May 30, 200719 yr CB Lamar Alston and DE Jonathan Holston. Don't know why yet. Thats never good. I don't follow Louisville football closely...What year were these players in Ram? Were they staters ?
May 30, 200719 yr Author Neither were starters, Alston was never going to be but Holston had potential down the road.
May 30, 200719 yr On my way home yesterday, as a sidenote to the whole Duran Jefferson saga, a Lexington sports talk show was talking about the differing styles of Kragthorpe to Petrino. Basically, they said that Petrino micro-managed to the point that players had little time to find trouble, while Kragthorpe is more of a "player's coach" and a bit more loose with his players. Was that idle talk or is there anything to that?

May 30, 200719 yr Having looked at message boards and even the Courier-Journal, NOTHING has been said as to the reason why. Not that the coach needs to give a reason, but only raises more questions. Regardless, you would think a story would come out eventually as to why.

Regardless, you would think a story would come out eventually as to why. Most coaches prefer to keep their player dimissals and suspensions in house. Normally the reason behind them only goes public if it involves some type of law violation. I like the fact that the coaches respect the players & their families involved and doesn't make the problem a public display. Hopefully these kids get things in order and complete their education.
May 30, 200719 yr Rumors that there could be a couple more booted. I read the same thing and I think it's great for a new coach to come in and really establish how he wants things done and the standards he wants to hold everyone up to. BUT with that said IF a star player on either side of the ball screws up mid-season and you don't punish him the same way you would punish others, you look foolish. We shall see how it plays out.
May 30, 200719 yr Author Rumors that there could be a couple more booted. All I find is message board stuff, and I'm not going to get worked up over that. We've all seen how accurate they can be, and they're ESPECIALLY bad in my experience at predicting players to transfer or leave the program. If they were accurate, Mike Bush, T-Will, Earl Clark, Mario Urrtia, George Stripling, and a host of others would already be gone (or left before in Buish's case.)
May 30, 200719 yr Author What I have heard about these two...was academic issues..What I've heard is that they weren't getting it done in the classroom or athletically to the level the program expected. It was an effort issue, and they got cut loose for lack of it.
