July 12, 200719 yr Never really listened to anything by Ryan Adams. I always just kinda figured he was country but it sounds like I'm a little off going by your earlier dated posts about him. He kind of falls under the "singer/songwriter" banner more than anything. Many country artists cover him, but he draws heavy influence from Paul Westerberg, Alex Chilton, Jagger/Richards, Prince, Morrissey and many others. If anything, he's "alt-country." At least, that's where he first started to get noticed. But pre-Whiskeytown, he played in rock and punk bands.
