WENN reports that Sony exec Michael Lynton has already confirmed that more "Spider-Man" sequels are on the way. "Everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on. (We'll make) as many as we can make good stories for," he told the entertainment service.

 

The studio has not confirmed that director Sam Raimi, or film principals Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, would be back for any sequels since their original deals called for just three films.

 

The movie also raked in over $148 million on opening weekend and $59 million alone on Friday! Both set records.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Franco will not be back for any sequels. He said as much before Spider-Man 3 came out. I have doubts about Dunst as well. The way this last film went, I'm not certain I wouldn't mind Raimi moving on.

I think a new cast would do wonders for this series....Dunst is just awful, and Maguire was never the right choice for Spiderman....

 

Scarlet Johanssen(sp?) would be great for MJ IMO, and Shawn Ashmore (IceMan from XMen) as Peter.

I think that if they do anymore spiderman movies they should at least keep Maguire. I mean he is Spiderman now, why change it with another actor? dunst they can cut out if they want but keep Spiderman the same, that's just my opinion.

I heard Leonardo DeCaprio was their first choice for Spiderman a long time ago...but he didn't want it or something happened and he didn't get it.

The best WHAT IF in regards to Spiderman is James Cameron, yes THAT James Cameron had written a draft and had ideas of what he wanted to do with Spiderman.

 

This goes back to the early 90's, maybe even late 80's. In any case the Spiderman name was essentially in a lawsuit over who owned the character movie rights, etc, etc. A long, LONG drawn out legal battle and by the time it was FINALLY resolved, James Cameron had moved on and the films went from there.

 

James has A LOT on his plate right now and wouldn't have time for a part 4 anytime soon, but that would be A LOT of fun to bring someone new in and have their take on the series or their own trilogy.

I've read the treatment that he wrote. Not half bad. It had a new villain, not one of the established ones, which wouldn't fly probably right now. Most revolutionary of all, it introduced the natural webbing concept.
