Best HS Golf teams in State 2007??

Featured Replies

Anyone have predictions on who the best golf teams will be in the state next year? Are the teams in regions and districts like basketball or do they differ?

The regions differ in golf. I believe there are only 10 regions in golf. I am not sure who exactly will be on top next year. I would expect that several of the catholic schools will again have good teams as usual.

It's too bad all the good golfers in Bardstown dont all go to one school. There are probably 5 very good golfers that will play in college in town, but they all are spread out among the 3 schools in Bardstown.

There are 12 regions in Boys Golf, and 10 in girls Golf.

I am not sure if the allignment will change for 2008, I know that they make changes every few years.

The KHSAA is looking at realignment of both boys and girls golf. I'm not sure what they have in mind, but I'm sure it will be as goofy as everything else they try to "make better."

As for the best teams, I'm not sure. I'm going to guess St. Xavier is going to be good. I'm not sure about the Lexington area though. Only time will tell.

Notre Dame is always tough. In NKY, Highlands and Villa Madonna are normally tough too.

The link on the website is not correct on the girls' side. Pendleton County is in the 9th region not 6th.

They do some things that don't make sense sometimes, that's for sure. For years our school, Owsley County High, was in a region that stretched from Madison County to Boyd County, but a school north of our county, Lee County, played south of us in the region that Clay, Laurel, Somerset, Harlan, and others played in. I remember the Lee County folks saying to me, "How are you in the region you are in because you're closer to our region than we are?"

I finally petitioned for a change and now we're where we should have been in the first place.
