All In Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 They have the Coach, will they have the numbers for the upcoming season? Anyone know how their spring drills and such went,if infact they had any?
Ruckus Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Yes they will, they opened up some teaching spots for coaches and are filling them. The numbers will be surprisingly big because about 40 freshmen particpated in off-season workouts. The whole community is getting involved with some administrators starting flag football leagues and other things to develop the talent there.

I know there is interest way down the line, but the numbers weren't great even at the middle school level last year. If they can't find a way to get the baseball and basketball players to participate(along with the study hall kids) don't see how they can keep a varsity team until all those flag footballers arrive.
Ruckus Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Looks like there is not much interest on this thread but I passed through this and a few other shcools while looking for land in that part of the state. I watched about 30-40 underclassmen workout. They need some development but I think the numbers will surprise some. Alsow ith the next district I believe they have a real shot at giving everyone but Frankfort fits. Coach Faust has done an excellent job along with the AD, Prinicipal, and Super at giving him everything he wants. New Colts replica jerseys, new locker room expansion. I think this will become a wnated job in the northern kentucky area next time it comes open.

Ruckus Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 lol, i am sure he is a great running back, but from what I know for them to give anyone fits would be a big improvement.

David Bird was voted by the coaches as the district player of the year. This district included Danville and Frankfort. Also Trimble was up on Frankfort 8-6 last year with 6 minutes to go in the game. Trimble beat Bracken last year 12 -0 on a running clock that played 1 quarter and Bracken got the ball first. Trimble ran 6 offensive plays. Bird had 127 yards on 3 carries against them in 1 quarter. Trimble has improved as much if not more than anyone in the state over the last 2 years. The Raiders will give Bracken more FITS than they will ever want. :fire:
All In Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Have to agree with some of the above posters. Bracken has had their clock cleaned the past few years by Eminence,Trimble and Pendleton and when I mean cleaned, I mean as in 0 points. I have to laugh when it was said this will be a good job when it comes open again. Unless there are transfers coming over from Mason County, don't see how anything will change.

Last year's match up between the two was a 12-0 Trimble win in one quarter due to the fact (understandably - considering distance ) that Bracken did not want to make the drive back. I can sit here and give you stats and accolades on Bird all day (and believe me, I can). However, perhaps you are unaware of the turn around that Trimble has had the past couple of years. Feel free to look for evidence of their "big improvement" on the KHSAA scoreboard. They gave lots of people "fits" last year, including Frankfort, whom they had beat until a fluke play in the 4th quarter.
csafootball Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Fluke play, I love it, kids make plays and people want to call them flukes..... bottom line both teams played hard and got what they respectively deserved........ Bird was voted co-mvp I think, not sole MVP..but the kid can flat out play.........

Bird was voted co-mvp I think, not sole MVP..but the kid can flat out play......... No, let me say that Frankfort fully deserved the win. All I am saying is that one single play made the difference - full credit to EJ Fields on that one. If he gets free to the outside, good luck anyone trying to catch him. Bird was co-MVP, alongside Frankfort senior Antoine Robinson. I was pleased to personally see both players get recognized for this at Papa John's this year. I might add that Trimble's coach Johnny Poynter was named the District Coach of the Year...and that was not a co-award. This actually brings up a great point that is related to the Bracken Co topic that we are supposed to be discussing (sorry, I am amongst the most guilty). Trimble is 2 years removed from two 0-10 back-to-back seasons. Last year, they were 7-4 (could have truthfully ended 9-2...didn't, but was not far from it). This single difference for Trimble is a good coach that knows how to get the best out of his players. That is certainly not meant to be a slap to Bracken's coach...just saying that things can turn around for the Polar Bears and I, for one, would be glad to see it happen. :thumb:

cshs81 Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Didn't last year's FROSH football team disband early in the season? I seem to remember them cancelling on HC's FROSH.
True blue (and gold) Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 One quarter? Please explain. Lots of rain and lightening...we were lucky to get it started at all. Since there was a score at the end of the quarter and both coaches agreed to it, the officials ruled it a completed game.
