NEXT Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Don Imus gets canned for what he did but these guys rape and kill people but no Rainbow Coalition march here or no Al Sharpton http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/local_news/article/0,1406,KNS_347_5277265,00.html
Jim Schue Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I'm not following what Jesse or Al has to do with this ...
All Tell Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Perhaps if the races of the victims and perpetrators was reversed the Al and Jesse would be thier usual selves.
Jim Schue Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Perhaps if the races of the victims and perpetrators was reversed the Al and Jesse would be thier usual selves. Well, nothing in that story indicates what the race of the victims and perpetrators is, so it's kind of hard to say. There's an awful lot of wanna-be white gangstas out there who assign themselves hip-hop names. Kind of like B-Rad on "Malibu's Most Wanted."
UKPat02 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 The whole VT thing really puts the Imus deal into perspective. It all seems so trivial now.
NEXT Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 I'm not following what Jesse or Al has to do with this ... And what business did they really have o do with Imus??????
HHSballer19 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 There's an awful lot of wanna-be white gangstas out there who assign themselves hip-hop names. True, but there's an awful lot of wanna-be black gangstas too.
Jim Schue Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 True, but there's an awful lot of wanna-be black gangstas too. Right, but I think some of our posters were operating under the assumption the victims were white and the accused were black, perhaps based on their hip-hop sounding names.
Jim Schue Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 And what business did they really have o do with Imus?????? IMO, none. But they always get involved in discrimination cases. You know it's coming, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
crimedoc Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I'm not following what Jesse or Al has to do with this ... Exactly. I am fan of a good debate but dont drag assumption into a debate. It makes for heated debates. This is terrible to hear. One violent crime is bad enough but Robbery and Rape and Murder! That is three of the FBI's most violent crimes on a person.
All Tell Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Right, but I think some of our posters were operating under the assumption the victims were white and the accused were black, perhaps based on their hip-hop sounding names. There was no assumption. Just a little additional clicking. All of the following pieces were linked to the article from the first post. Tribute to Channon Christian A You Tube presentation which show pictures of the female victim. Police request information Shows a picture of both victims. Three Held in Double Slaying Article shows pictures of two of the criminals. A quick Google Search of the female victim's name gets this among other entries. Read ThisShows pictures of all suspects and the victims. Now that questions of my prejudging based solely on names is gone can you honestly dispute that if the races had been reversed that Jackson and Sharpton or their ilk would have been very boisterous in their protests? Also if someone, say Sean Hannity, condemned these criminals prior to trial (just as Shaprton and Jackson did to the Duke players) do you really believe that he wouldn't be accused of bigotry and the subject of massive protests by Jackson and Sharpton? Finally, do you really believe that a double standard does not exist?
All Tell Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 IMO, none. But they always get involved in discrimination cases. You know it's coming, so it shouldn't be a surprise. So does this make their actions right or do they get a free pass based on their race?
Jim Schue Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 So does this make their actions right or do they get a free pass based on their race? You act as though I'm some faithful follower of the Revs, and that's just not the case. What I can't understand is why anyone even bothers to pay attention to them when they go on their crusades.
