Without a doubt. They needed him dead before Sabbath.

The weekly Sabbath on Saturday wasn't the only Sabbath under the Mosaic law...

Yes, the New Testament repeatedly refers to Jesus' resurrection as occurring on the third day.(Matthew 16:21; 17:23; Luke 9:22; 18:33; Acts 10:40; 1 Corinthians 15:4). And the Jews reckoned a part of day as a whole day. So there is no problem with the death of Jesus on Friday, being in the tomb on Saturday, and being raised on Sunday constituting three days in Jewish reckoning.

Not if the criteria is simply that he was in the grave for a part of three days, but Jesus said this in Matthew 12:40...

"For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

Friday doesn't cut it for three days and nights.

In Old Testament the expression “one day and one night” was an idiom used often by the Jews for a day, even when it was applied to only a part of a day. The Jewish reference to this period as three days and three nights is strictly in accordance with the Jewish mode of reckoning. Evening and morning, or night and day, is the Hebrew phrase for a natural day. It was a maxim among the Jews in computing time, that a part of a day was to be received or computed as the whole.

Christ was dead at three o’clock on Friday, they had before six o’clock, three hours to bury Him. After going through the red tape with the Romans it took less than an hour. The Jewish reckoning of time is found in the Jewish Talmud and the Babylonian Jerusalem Talmud (the commentaries of the Jews), said any part, an “onan”, any part of the day is considered a full day. On Friday before six o'clock by Jewish reckoning, any minute was considered one day and one night. From Friday night at six o'clock to Saturday at six o'clock, was another day and another night. From Saturday night to Sunday was a third day. Thus, Jesus was in the grave part of Friday (a whole “natural day”), through all of Saturday (the second day), and from Saturday at sunset a part of Sunday (the third day). Thus, it is likely that the part of the day (Friday) on which Jesus was crucified, the entire day He was in the grave (Saturday), and the part of the day on which He rose again (Sunday), estimated as entire days. The concept of three days would be an idiom, not necessarily meaning 3 full 24- hour periods.

The weekly Sabbath on Saturday wasn't the only Sabbath under the Mosaic law...

Yom Shabbat is the 7th day of the Hebrew week and translates literally "Day of the Sabbath." It falls on Saturday. We also know that Jesus was hung Erev Pesach on Shabbat. And what difference does it make what day he died on? Do you believe that Jesus was born on December 25th?

And what difference does it make what day he died on?

None, that I'm aware of. It's just interesting to me. I think he died before Friday. I wanted to see if anybody else had ever given the question much thought.

The earth Father of Jesus.....Joseph was told in a dream to accept Mary as his wife. She is with child of the Holy Spirit. She is still a virgin. "Name the child Jesus because he will someday save his people from their Sins."

This reason saving His people from the sins is the only reason he came to earth. Not to preform miracles, teach others, heal people, raise the dead, these things were important, but the Angel stated what God wanted.

The birth of Jesus is wonderful to read/talk/learn about, but Paul even states "if there was no resurrection, then the work of Jesus was futile".

The whole Christian world need to shut down next Sunday and pray and give thanks to God that we can have an Easter.

Don't be afraid to repent in these next fews days as I will also be repenting and become stronger in my walk. Get my mind off the things that causes me to sin and focus on sharing the word of Christ.

A person/family goes to Easter Service once a year. Why do they go that one time. They must be believers. They realize the Good Friday and the three days later and the risen Christ....but they still only see fit to go once a year.

In Revelation 20::11:12 "Then I saw a great white throne and who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them, and I saw the dead great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened.

Another book was opened, which is the book of Life. The Dead were judged according to what they have done, as recorded in the Books".

They are believers but only worship in public once a year. :idunno:

Dad, gave me cold chills. We had a full room for Bible Study. Our Church also had a lot of visitors, and like I asked earlier will they be back next week? I was supposed be an usher but was late handing out the Bullentin...out flapping my gums in the hallway.

How was your Easter? Nice Lunch and watching Golf with family. Missed my nap.

This week I'll be starting a door to door walk meeting new neighbors in a new subdivision..about 70 homes.

Baptist Witness? :idunno:

"It is finished."

But there, there hangs Gods son in the balance........
