April 2, 200719 yr I understand the economist answer. UK basketball pays the bills for the rest of the athletic department. But look at the flip side. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the market price of ALL coaches will rise when one of them is paid north of 4 Million a year. And the vast majority of athletic departments are running in the red. The NCAA President thinks it's a concern, and he obviously is pretty focused on athletics. How do you think all those English Lit professors feel about it? They wont like it . And your point is?
April 2, 200719 yr UK would pay Donovan $4 million in a heartbeat, IMO. As a business decision it would be a sound one, especially since there is more turmoil now than any time since UK was on probation.

April 3, 200719 yr Yes but the image on the school looks terrible to the public and prospective students..... No way...The image would be just fine... I personally think 3.5 is too high, but, Coach K makes 3M a year, not counting all the commercials he does which like it or not, promotes Duke basketball...Billy D has certainly acheived more the last 6-7 years than Coach K has...And, please don't take this as a bash to Coach K...It's not, it's more a tribute to what Donovan has accomplished in recent years...
