March 22, 200719 yr I say he has to be the starter to get that. How much of a signing bonus did he get? The Houston Chronicle reported -- will receive $7 million in guarantees. Schaub, 25, will earn roughly $20 million in the first three years of the contract. After the first three years, the Texans must pay Schaub a $10 million option bonus in March 2010 to trigger the final three seasons of the contract, or he becomes a free agent. This is the same Houston team, though, that paid the soon-to-be-discarded David Carr a "buy back" bonus of $8 million last spring to reinstate three years of his contract that had voided.
March 22, 200719 yr Author That is a lot of $$ for what essentially is an unproven starting QB... Reminds me of Scott Mitchell...hopefully Schaub will prove to be worth it.
March 23, 200719 yr So the two guys they thought would allow them to pass on Bush, Young and Leinart are cut less than a year later? Priceless...
March 24, 200719 yr I like Schaub and think it's a good move for Houston. I like Carr but I really think he needs out of there mentally. I think it's a bigtime loss for the Falcons as far as having a solid backup but they did the right thing by getting something for him. Cutting players for nothing wears me out.... David Carr/Dominick Davis........
March 27, 200719 yr Author So the two guys they thought would allow them to pass on Bush, Young and Leinart are cut less than a year later? Priceless... :thumb: That's the worst thing for Houston...they didn't just screw up and miss out on one guy...there were two guys available...that's a colossal mistake. VY, a franchise QB, hometown boy who would have, if nothing else, boosted ticket sales...or a dynamic once-a-generation RB in Bush... ...Mario Williams. The new Sam Bowie. Imagine if Portland would have had the #1 pick and taken Bowie over Hakeem and MJ...that's about what this is like.
