February 20, 200719 yr Is this really a surprise? Mick was one of the best recruiters in the nation in his stints at UC & Louisville. Add that to the fact that he has plenty of playing time to offer, and I think Cincinnati will continue to bring in fairly decent classes. Kentucky does not have much PT to offer, with the exception of the PF (and possibly C) position. With that said, neither Kentucky nor Cincinnati have nabbed any of the premier prospects...as of now.

February 20, 200719 yr *'s can be misleading. I'm watching the Patterson/OJ show on TV right now. Patterson is way overrated IMO. He's got no jump shot and is not a good freethrow shooter. He is very atletic around the basket but lets face it, he is not going to be dunking on everybody at the next level. Thats all UK needs is another guy that can't score. The Other side of this is that if UK doesn't get him the anti Tubby contigent will be merciless. And if he goes to UK and is not dominant people will still blame Smith just like they do now for the class that contained 3 McDonalds All Americans. Its a no win situation. UC last year was still looking at landing Mayo and Walker. How good of a recruiting class could that have been with just a couple of the other guys that GT listed.

Its a no win situation because if they live up to their billing its the players making the coach look good. If it turns out like Rondo, Morris, and Crawford; well, people are already saying Tubby can't recruit. Remember at the time that recruiting class along with Texas were the two best in the country. That s not the way things actually turned out to be though. Fans are fickle. Recruiting is not an exact science.(ie D Wade) Thats just the way it is. Patterson has no game from more than a couple feet away from the basket. I believe he will be average at best at the major college level.

The area around campus is totally revamped, but there are still bad spots. I'm up there all the time these days and it feels a heck of a lot better than it did a few years ago...
February 20, 200719 yr With all due respect GT, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the star rankings. See, Morris, Crawford, and Rondo. All 5-star players and many on here would have traded them for just about anybody after they got on campus. That being said, looks like UC is putting together a nice class.

I put more stock in the *s than I do the rankings. I think it's safe to look at 1-25, 25-100 and 100-150 in similar comparisons more than #26 vs #84. If 84 lands in a perfect spot and 26 buys into a coaching change after a year you never know. I've learned to look for *** moving up and **** moving down and how to read the once in a while rankings compared to game and "event" evaluation...
