I was not at the game so I can't say by what I saw but you just mentioned a ref from the girls game said that it wasn't justified. What does that prove :confused: Answer : absolutely nothing. :lol:

I saw the same game you did. I will agree with one thing you said. There were some bad calls both ways. You didn't quote the first part of my post. How do you explain the ref calling the player stepping over the free throw line when he was completely still, even after the ball went through the goal?

You obviously don't know the coach. His reaction was not a normal one for him, but you can just take so much. By the way, one of the refs in the girls game told the coach that it was not justified.

The explanation for the call is the same for all the other bad and no calls in the game. Bad refereeing, human error. Not "picking on" one team.

And, you are right, I do not know the coach. Have never seen him before in my life, as far as I know. But I'm sure his first impression on me and alot of others will stay with us and the kids that were there that don't really know him either.....Kind of like the saying, Protect your reputation, it proceeds you like a marching band.....the only reputation that those of us that don't personally know him is the one we witnessed that day. I hope I have an occasion to see the real side of him on another day.

Oh, I see. So the ref just made a mistake, and he just THOUGHT the player stepped across the line. He was standing 6 feet away. I can see how that could happen.

I plainly stated that I didn't see the game JW, as for what you said about it doesn't prove anything ---- that is also what I said.:confused: So that goes back to "whats the point"? Time to move on as another said earlier, game over and Raceland plays again tonight and I am sure that Pikeville has more games left, good luck to the Panthers the rest of the way.

One thing that I have noticed over the years: when teams from different regions play each other, teams that normally do not play each other, the officiating is a big topic. The main reason, IMO, is that around the state basketball games are officiated differently. Some regions let players play a little more, some regions call every little touch. One call I see more in some regions is "the hand check", the 16th doesnt call this as much, but some regions really focus on it.

 

I have also stated many times, I do not think many refs cheat for one team, they are just poor officials. I have seen only a hand full of quality officials in high school basketball.

 

Pikeville fans, trust me, even when Raceland is playing at home, the fans are upset when certain refs walk out. Because we know it will be a poorly officiated game. The 16th has a few quality refs, and several poor refs, as I am sure the other regions has as well.

After reading my post, I think that I should add that when I say some officials are poor officials, I do not mean that as an insult. I merely mean that not everyone is a gifted official, just like not everyone is a gifted basketball player. I just think officiating is not for everyone. Lord knows I would probably be a terrible official, just not my calling.

The refs from the girls game were on the opposite end of the gym. I doubt they had a good view of the call. The shooter may of had his foot on the line. Thats a violation as is stepping across the line.

Just a couple of notes here. 1. I agree with STRIKE on the officiating. 2. This game is over and the season is going on.

I was talking about the coach getting tossed. That's what the ref was referring to. I don't need to have the rules explained to me. The player did not have his foot on the line and did not move! That is what made it so outrageous.
