Officiating

You now qualfify for the 16th Region.

Don't knock'em, join'em...you are the type of person that needs to officiate and to see what it is really all about. Then you may see things a lot different.

People like you are great inspirations for people who are refs or want to be refs....NOT:fire:

That is the state's best, try going to a NKY game or to the mountains.

Go out and do it yourself if you think it's that bad. Be pro-active, do something about it instead of sitting in the stands complaining. You see that you'll see the game from a completely different view.

Does this test qualify you for middle school age's? That's the age limit I would like to do, for football and basketball.

Can you honestly say you have never "knocked" a ref? I don't know anyone who hasn't said that he or she missed that call. Shoot we even do it to the coaches when we say "why did he or she call that play?" I would advise anyone who wants to be a ref not to carry their feelings on their shoulders and stay focused on the game and players and not the fans. And you have no idea what type of person that I am.

Yep!

Officiating is a tough, thankless job; it's definitely not worth the abuse and effort required for the small amount of pay. I think we all, myself included, tend to be too critical at times. I'd say high school officiating is more difficult than college and possibly the NBA as well.

Maybe there should be some changes considered. I think three (3) officials may be one too many and can cause problems. Two who know their stuff can handle it fine. If there is a third official, maybe he/she should be in the stands or something and make a deciding ruling on a controversial call in certain situations. Just an idea for all you basketball gurus to consider. There is a great deal of dissatisfaction with the referees, especially at the high school level.

Having three officials on the floor makes the game better. As I posted before, even three meidocre officials can control a game better than 2. You will simply not have enough officials continue to be able to officiate w/o three person becoming the prevelant officiating system. That extra set of eyes comes in handy when you have a "thug" on the floor that just tries to get away with what he/she can. With only two officials, little things like illegal screens and such get missed. Then one player gets upset because he got a "bow" in the head that one of the officials missed (talking two person here). Then you have a melee' and ejections. Then the officials get blamed for letting the game get to "physical". So three is better than two. Take my word for it!
