South Oldham at Frederick Douglass Predictions/Updates (Scrimmage) (8/7)

Featured Replies

The Dragons of South Oldham will come to "The Farm" this Friday at 6:00pm. It will be interesting to see what the Broncos look like before their scrimmage on the 14th at St. X.

Douglass looked good still early a positive the offense so far looks a good bit better than last year’s. The line is a lot bigger as well. Next week will be a more telling look with the scrimmage at St. X next Friday.

2 safeties were out 1 starter. 2 OL were out, 1 starter. Starting wideout was out. 1st and 2nd defensive unit looked good. South looked very young. They usually have a handful of guys that could play for Douglass, I didn't see that yesterday.

Do we have any accounting of the "scoring" in this scrimmage?

Not that I heard or saw.

Weird, one team had to "win" the scrimmage.

From a couple of folks who were there, South Oldham really struggled to do much on either side of the ball. Overmatched physically.

There it is!!

This is the one thing I really dislike about scrimmages, there is way too much cloak and dagger, dungeons and dragons, we don't know...

So I googled my above statement about what we don't know and Google told me:

Direct & Immediate Answer: It looks like you feel frustrated about a confusing situation or a lack of clear information. Please tell me what is happening so we can figure it out together and get you the clear answers you need.

I wasn’t there last night but in the past they have done this scrimmage as more of a mutual practice. Run periods, pass periods, red zone work etc. I do think there will be significant growing pains for this South Oldham team as they’re working in a lot of young guys. Tough first matchup to break in your young guys with a likely improved Douglass team.

This was a shared practice scrimmage, like maybe 12 plays varsity, then 12 jv then 12 frosh snaps, rinse and repeat. If the offense gets 10 yards, blow the whistle and start next play with the ball at same position every play. Interception, fumble recovery, whistle blown and no advancing of the ball.

Punting, redzone situations... Really just a practice with another team.
