Simon Kenton 63 Owensboro Catholic 50 (2026 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Girls Basketball Sweet 16®)

Featured Replies

Final per the KHSAA Stat Broadcast.

Glad to see the Lady Pioneers continuing to win. I would love to see them win a championship with Coach Stowers SR back at the helm. He has done a lot for the program over a long period of time.

Simon Kenton just beat Owensboro Catholic to move into the semi-finals tomorrow. What are the chances they make it to the finals? If they make it there, can they win it??

Goes without saying that these games won't be getting any easier.  Assuming they meet up with GRC, it will be a battle.   But as we always said while covering these things, if you can get to Saturday, anything can happen.

Excellent basketball coach and he seems like a heck of a good dude. Great sense of humor as well.

I thought SK got off to a really good start today. Against Ashland they had three attempts the entire first half from three point range and today they opened up the game with their first three field goals being three pointers. Had a big lead in the third quarter (24) but Owensboro Catholic is tough and they made a great comeback to cut the lead to 10.

As a team, SK a lot of length and can shoot the ball well. Free throw shooting is a plus for them especially with a player like Pernell at around 88% on the season. Certainly capable of continuing this strong run. Congratulations to SK on the win and to Owensboro Catholic on a great season.

Congrats to Lady Pioneers going to the semis! Well deserved.

Agreed. I don't think anyone really thought the boys team had much of a shot in 1981. Anything can happen.

100%. Great family with all of his sons and a daughter playing basketball for Simon Kenton and all of them being great student athletes. Like I mentioned before, Coach Stowers winning a state title would be a great story, in my opinion.

Pioneers need to win 2 games today to win state! Let's go Lady Pioneers!
