Please No.   Traffic through there is already congested enough.  Taking it from 4 lanes to 2 is just going to aggravate more people.   The article says safety is the reason.  I'm all for safety, but I can almost guarantee that any pedestrian that may have been hit on Dixie Highway is probably trying to cross the street and not using a crosswalk.

I am by no means a traffic flow expert, but I do drive that stretch of road quite often.  I do not see how this change is going to help.

There are probably about 10 TANK stops through this section which will just make things worse.  Good news is that they've put it on hold since there has been so much push back.

Need to make the road wider you can barely get 2 cars side by side. Someone about side swiped me the other day.

I think that is part of the issue, there is no extra space.

I agree, it will probably be really nice, just slow moving through that part of town and if I75 backs up, forget about it...

I don't think it will be bad. It only from Donaldson to Turfway I believe.

I can see this being a good and bad thing. There is nothing worse than sitting in that left lane waiting for a car to cross traffic when turning left. The addition of the middle turn lane will help with that. However, traffic is going to be backed up terribly in that stretch with the amount of use that road gets. Someone mentioned this already, but it is the main road used when one of the interstates is backed up or shut down, and a scenario like that will make this a nightmare. Plus, merging from two lanes before and after this piece of the road will be a nightmare as a lot of people really can't merge efficiently.
