A win is a win and I'm sure that the Colonels will take it. Good game by Grimes again, and Todd Jacobs also played very well under pressure. It was a good game to watch too.

great game is right, although the Breds fans might disagree after watching a 4 point lead slip away. They should have won the game, make the front end of either of those 1 and 1 and it's their game.

NC has lost twice to CCH this year because they cannot shoot foul shots. They don't handle pressure well. It hasn't changed in about 3 or 4 years. Too bad for NC.

Kiernan should be more of a force than he is. 3 points in the first half is not enough. Late in the game he finally started working down low and it worked out. Athletic tall guys with some skill sometimes forget to use their size advantage. Zach has fallen into this trap twice this year against CCH. He's good enough to be a 20/10 guy nightly.

Two calls that puzzled me a lot......

 

First call was when a NewCath player went down under their basket and when CovCath got the rebound they went driving down to score, all of a sudden the Ref's blow the whistle to stop CovCath. Why? Second when the ref allowed the NewCath coach to call a timeout when neither NewCath or CovCath had possession (or so it seemed to me). Ref's let a lot go uncalled tonight that let this game almost get out of hand.....

 

Still don't understand why NewCath didn't do a lob to their big boy with only 5.1 seconds left in the game and with the inbound under their basket? At worst, he misses and gets fouled.

 

Great individual effort by TJ when a NewCath player tries to inbound the ball with 3.1 seconds on the clock. TJ jumps and blocks the ball right ball into the NewCath player. CovCath ball and the game.....

 

CovCath missed a sick Luke Maile tonight. Luke with his big upper body under basket, would have helped a lot on the boards.

 

While CovCath had a good shooting percentage tonight, they only hit I believe 2/3 3pt shoots.

 

The way CovCath played tonight (while I will give NewCath a lot of credit), I believe their heads and hearts were looking forward to the big game against Scott County on Tuesday night instead of the NewCath team at CovCath tonight....and I will agree with others, NewCath blew this game tonight....

Bovard is blossoming into a great point guard. Aside from a poor shooting night, which is getting more rare by the week, he recorded 8 assists, only 1 turnover, and 3 steals.

 

Grimes had 18, most of which coming of some great cuts to the basket

and some great passes by TJ and Bo.

 

JD "Sniper" Schmerge had a big 3 under two minutes to go to cut the lead to 1. I was shocked he was even in the game but he nailed it.

 

The game was almost a riot in the 4th quarter over some tough calls by the ref.

The written rule does leave some leeway for officials. I think he blew it too early but I guess its always good to err on the safe side. Of course, #23 made the ref look like a fool when he immediately hopped up and sprinted down the floor AFTER play was stopped.
