So you are saying that a 1-2 game per year upgrade to the schedule would not help come playoff time?  I am not saying that they should schedule "murderer's row."  But 1 or 2 games per year against tougher competition should help them.  People don't remember how a team did in the regular season.  They remember how well a team did in the playoffs.  Who cares if they lose a non-district game in the regular season if it prepares them to perform better in the playoffs.

And in my original post, I also alluded to the fact the SW does a good job.  They transitioned well to 6A.  A small tweak to their future scheduling would, in my opinion, help them in the long run.

Sure, but they are already playing for a State title in 6-A. Probably will this year.

6A is a different animal. Yes. In 2025 they advanced to the state title game. That was one year (yes, I know their 1st year in 6A). But Bullitt East won 6A a few years ago. What have they done in 6A since then?  I agree with bruin66.

in my opinion, if you want to go toe to toe with Trinity year in and year out, or the next tier down in Male, St. X, FD, etc, your out of district schedule needs to challenge you in a big way at least 3 times before district play begins. Every single out of district game Trinity will play in 2026 will challenge them in a big way. That is true for the Rocks almost every year.

I think South Warren is built for success. They have an indoor. They have a staff that  coached at some major universities. It's different. It's not just "hey we went to state" and then you never hear from them. South Warren will always compete for a title. Some years they won't make it, but they won't be one hit wonders.

On tangent here I guess, I think SW's schedule would be great if they were playing 5A but as a 6A school I think their schedule is thin.

This is year two of contracts so obviously any schedule changes for 2026 were unlikely. For a first time team in 6A, the schedule is fine. My guess is the schedule gets a little tougher during the next cycle. Brandon Smith knows what he's doing.
