NIL money now in Ohio preps

The Dayton Daily News:

A lawsuit filed last week by the family of Wayne High School junior Jamier Brown resulted in a judge issuing a temporary restraining order Monday against the Ohio High School Athletic Association rules that prohibit athletes from profiting off the use of their name, image and likeness.

The lawsuit was filed in Franklin County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday by Jasmine Brown, the mother of Jamier, a wide receiver who is verbally committed to Ohio State.

And, you thought there was a problem with players transferring before.......

Kentucky already has NIL at HS level just can't be associated with the school they play for.

Can you imagine standing over the grill as a dad for four hours on a Saturday in front of the Piggly Wiggly on Main, grilling ribeye sandwiches for your kid's team to watch as your coach hands all the proceeds to the new RB's Uncle, who has brought him over from two counties away?

I wonder how long this goes before it is legally challenged, although I'm not for certain how widespread NIL is in Kentucky athletics.  But if what we have seen with the NCAA is any indication, regulations like this appear to be toothless if someone wants to fight it.

The NIL has ruined everything. Why do college athletes, no matter the school, or how good they are, deserve a full ride scholarship to "pay for school, etc" when they make more money than most people will ever see in a lifetime in one season? Someone explain this to me.

You want to give college athletes NIL money, fine, but no scholarships. They can pay for their classes,  and then some.  High school, absolutely not, no place for NIL.

This is getting out of control. NIL for kids in high school?

We are in crazy times!

Ohio is a totally different animal when it comes to this. I know parents that have had their rent, car notes, groceries, kids school clothes/shoes paid for by NIL while the kid is in pee wee.

I would say the youth in Ohio play a lot more aggressive when little Jimmy knows he needs to make the name on the back of his jersey look good so he can help his mom put a roof over his head.

Is it right? That's debatable.
