The top rated 2A Beechwood Tigers travel to Walton Verona to play the Bearcats in each teams second district contest of 2025, kickoff at 7:30 pm. Beechwood stands at 4-1 and Walton Verona is the opposite at 1-4. This series has been very lopsided in favor of the Tigers and on paper this game does not appear to be any different.

Beechwood features the top passing offense in 2A led by a trio of juniors. Emmett Queen is the top passer in 2A averaging 237 yards per game with 15 TD's against 2 INT's and is completing 69.1% of his passes. Queen's top two targets Tyler Fryman and Nathan Pabst rank 2nd and 3rd respectively in 2A in receiving. Both are dynamically fast and threats to score every time they touch the ball. Fryman is also the team's leading rusher even though he only has 13 carries in 5 games. Fryman is averaging more than 15 yards per carry. On the receiving side, Fryman scores a TD one out of every three catches and has 8 receiving TD's on the year. As if that isn't enough, Fryman also leads the team in tackles. I think we can see why the D1 offers from FBS level schools are coming in to Fryman.

Walton Verona's top playmaker on offense is senior WR Braydon Donato, in the top 10 in 2A in receiving yards averaging almost 20 yards per catch with 6 TD's. The leading rusher is sophomore Andrew Lynn. Juniors Andrew Lutze and Cooper Burch are the leading tacklers.

What are you looking to see in this game?

For Walton-Verona no matter what the final ends up being. The biggest thing for them is going out to compete and find something to build off of to go into the last four games of the year. Plus hopefully get healthier and get a few starters back that missed a few games this year.

Walton has had leads at halftime in three of their five games, but only won one of them. Plus in 4 of their 5 games it has been a one possession game in the final two minutes of the game, but have not made winning plays to go get the wins at the end of those games. Walton especially has to clean up the turnovers, which have been a big part in blowing second half leads. So no matter what happens in this game, Walton needs to focus on getting itself better and go compete this week and try to find something to build off of moving forward.

Beechwood names the score in this game. Running clock before halftime.

Beechwood is up 21-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Queen has thrown 2 passes a 60 yard TD pass and a 75 yard TD pass both to Tyler Fryman.

34-0 Tigers after the defenses 2nd pick 6 and missed XP.

Just flipped on Tigers’s broadcast 48-0 to start 2nd half.  No details here.
