In the trenches

Almost 1000 yards rushing in 5 games, while staying undefeated, that sounds like a legit line @Honey Badger. 232 rush yards vs Campbell Co, and also 199 against Conner.

Couple factors limiting their stats that would take away from rushing yards or they would be well over 1k. They only played a half vs Newport and had the ball inside Newport's 40 the whole game, sometimes around the 20. Against NCC they had multiple kick returns for TD's along with great field position most of the game that would have taken away from rushing yards.

Don't know if you can track rushing yards allowed but that has to look pretty good too. Couple plays in scrap time where chunk yardage plays were allowed but I would guess they have held their opponents close to under 100 yards per game.

I don't think you can be a top 5 team in each class without being good in the trenches.

The most underrated part of being a good/great lineman (and/or core unit).

"If you can't run, you can't play" doesn't just apply to the guys touching the ball. It applies equally (relatively speaking), to the guys up front, on both sides of the ball.

Johnson Central, year in, year out, was the first one that came to mind when seeing the title of this thread.

They got the best feet of all!

I thought healthy Ryle was very good. Big across the OL with 6'5, 300+ pound tackles.  D-Line was tough, I thought their DT #0 was good and Bo Gay is certainly a scholarship FCS player (or higher) at Defensive End.

Didn't see that coming from a Cov Cath guy. Got to give respect where respect is due.

Once you see Highlands in person I can't wait until you compare and contrast the two. I know Cov Cath has some hogs too.

A good coach once said. The bigger they are....the harder they hit.

I try to be objective...whether or not that is true who knows lol.

Cov Cath is definitely not on this list, but has some good players. I've seen a bit of Highlands and their right side of the OL looks like they should be playing at Cleveland St. Ed's instead of in Kentucky 4A. Will be difficult opponent.

Don't get me started on O-H-I-O vs KY

As far as 2A Owensboro Catholic's Oline comes to mind.  They have some good size and are pretty athletic.  I believe they have some Olineman with D1 offers.

Cov Cath has had the best I've seen this year so far.

They did a real nice job gettin to the next level, and did an even better job on the "chip" blocks before climbing to the LBs.

Give me smaller OL and Dl all day long.  Too many guys are simply too big, they cannot move.

Those Johnson Central clips above are the type of linemen I love.  Chip on their shoulder, move well as a unit, and have attitude.  Great job down there!!!

Unless you are an absolute physical specimen..... the 1% of the 1%, there is really no need for a high schooler to be 300+ lbs.  Have them drop some significant weight and better their game and their bodies.  If they have the height and the frame, they'll still play college.  College is when they turn into Monsters with full time supervision with nutrition and training programs.

So they gave up roughly 400 yds. And have produced around 1k yds. On the ground. Not a bad formula. Crazy they got stuff that tracks this. Lol.

With that being said about their O and D lines. They got a nasty set of linebackers that carry the ball in Conrad and Tomlinson. Their 3rd LB D. Peterson doesn't touch the ball. I think on offense he plays ( backup ) guard, end and tackle. He sits at the end of the bench. He guards the water bottles. AND he tackles anyone that comes near them.

Am I right @DRKARK
