Louisville Central and Bullitt East have played 12 times since 1999 with the teams splitting the games evenly with both winning 6.  The teams played 10 times between 1999 and 2007, before restarting the annual contest in 2023.  The teams have split the last two contests with Central winning last year and East winning in 2023.  These two teams usually play a pretty tight contest and I expect this next one to be no different.  

East comes into the game at 2-2 winning their last two against the other two Bullitt County teams by a large margin.  Central also comes in at 2-2 winning their last two against less than stellar competition as well.  Central has struggled to score their first three games before exploding for 49 against Shawnee last night.  

After a terrible showing against Boyle, East has settled down and gotten better each week.  I think East should be able to beat Central this week but they need to keep improving.  I'm just not sure Central can score enough to upend the Chargers.  I'll take East by 14.

Central's offense is not very good. Their defense can play... but I am not sure they will score more than a TD against a team BE's quality.

The Cherry kid is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and they will try to find creative ways to do that. Watch out for him and he can be dangerous on kicks as well. Their line has good size but are very young. Their QB and RB's will improve but they just aren't what you are used to seeing from a Central team.. no back who can take the game over and just put the team on his back like a Cortez Stone. Johnson already is showing improvement but still he isn't a homerun hitter or the guy who breaks four or five tackles on a play. Usually Central has a couple receivers with good size who can beat you and who can make plays high pointing it.. don't see those guys on the field for them right now. Cherry as mentioned is pretty dynamic but he isn't very big and is only a Sophomore, he will be dangerous in a couple years. Hadley is a quality possession receiver but doesn't jump off the page as being dominant but he is only a Sophomore as well.

Defensively they look more like what you expect from Central.. big..do a good job playing smart & disciplined football and setting the edge... Dantzler's son is a star in the making at Safety. Their LB's aren't bad at all but they are a year away from being those Central LB'ers you are used to seeing who just shut everything down between the hashes.

 

I think if Central wants to be considered a top 5 team in 3A this is a must win.

Central takes it right down the field with with a big catch and run making up most of the damage but then turn it over on downs on the East 11.
