Lincoln County 35 Danville 32

Featured Replies

Lincoln County (4-0) edges Danville (3-1) in a hard-fought, fun battle as each team enjoyed punching and then counter-punching all night.  The Admirals gained the lead late off a Jayvean Meaux touchdown but the Patriots drove down the field on their final possession and scored on an 11 yard pass with 24 seconds left.  The Admirals were unable to do anything after their kickoff return after that.  This is the first time in school history that Lincoln County has beaten Danville in back-to-back years.  The loss is the first for Steve Stonebreaker as Admirals coach.  A bit of a heartbreaker for Danville but Lincoln led for most of the game.

IMO the loss did a good job exposing what the Admirals need to work on.  Their field goal kicking remains questionable at best as several extra points were weak and forced the Admirals into a position later to go for two point conversions.  They struggled against Lincoln County's offensive line for much of the night, giving up more than 200 yards on the ground.  Lincoln also struggled to contain the Ads on the ground, so that evened out in this game a bit but many here noted that Lincoln would have an advantage in the trenches and they exploited it.  Also, the Ads need to keep working on avoiding penalties.  Lincoln had what appeared to be a costly turnover that ended up on their own 4 yard line late in the third but the Admirals celebrated too much, got flagged, and then were unable to get the ball close, turning it over on an interception a few plays later.

Next week Lincoln plays at East Jessamine (2-2).  The Admirals host Washington County (2-1 going into tonight).

Dang… still this is another fantastic Danville effort!

Yeah, this loss stings a bit but the Admirals showed a lot of fight.  I remind myself this is a young team that will have to learn from games like this.  And after the debacle of the last few years, especially last season, the Ads putting up 32 points should be a cause of celebration.  Lincoln made some good adjustments at halftime that stifled some of the Ads offense to the point that I was surprised the Ads had the lead late.  Their QB also made a great throw for the game winning TD.

Good win for the Patriots! Dumb penalties and the INT inside the Lincoln 20 cost Danville that game. Danville's secondary continues to struggle, Lincoln County was going right at #5 from Danville in the secondary all night long. Lincoln's QB is tough as nails, along with the RB. Danville had trouble tackling them two all night.

Foster threw a great ball into the back of the end zone to win the game.  And, was rolling to his left!  Really fun HS football game to watch.

Even in losing, very nice effort by Danville. I thought this may have been worse. Danville definitely has themselves a good football coach. They will be of strong relevance in the near future, if not in ways during this postseason.
