? ’Cougars Try To Pry Loose Gator Grip On Series'

A Helle of a good start | LC running back Christian Helle sets the tone for the Cougar offense, averaging 112 yards per game. He's already on the verge of surpassing last year's yardage total.

Defense to Offense | Previously a defensive specialist at linebacker, Davis Chaney has emerged as one of the more explosive players in Warren County in his first year in a significant offensive role. Chaney already has seven touchdowns through three games, including five rushing and last week's lightning strike against South Warren on a kick-off return. He'll be staring down an LC defense allowing 150 yards and 10 points per game.

Series History ?: Greenwood leads 15-2 since 1998. This series was one way traffic for years, with the Gators running off ten straight wins between 1999 and 2016 by an average score of 46-10. Logan County put an end to it in 2019, but Greenwood has resumed control with five straight wins, including last year's 21-3 victory in the Swamp. 

I like Greenwood in this one.  They have been a tough team that has gotten better each week.  The Gators are on the road for the first time this season, but the way they handled SW upfront for 3 quarters impressed me and I think they continue their successes this Friday.

I like the Gators to get back in the win column, have to admit the Cougars are playing a better brand of football than I would’ve believed a team who lost their SR QB this offseason. Greenwood has a very good front 7, they’ll make this one a very physical game on both sides of the ball.

I expect the Gators to win with a similar score to last year’s. Logan is a quality team but I honestly believe Greenwood might have an outside chance of beating BG this year for the first time ever. Do I believe they will probably not but most years they haven’t had a chance and this year I think they have at least a chance.

While I would love to disagree with this, I really don't.  And BG will have to come to play in order to win this game.  However, it is over a month away and I'm hoping BG gets some players back by then.  But still.

I thought Logan's season was headed for ruin after Holman left. I should know not to doubt Todd Adler. Truly one of the best football coaches in the state.
