Hazard will take its third consecutive road trip of the season as it makes it way up the road to take on the 2-0 Prestonsburg Black Cats. Hazard sits at 2-0 on the season as well with its wins over Montgomery County 46-14, and a 42-7 win over Whitley County. Prestonsburg beat county rival Betsy Layne 69-46, and Shelby Valley 44-7.  These two teams haven’t played each other since 2019. Hazard since 1998 holds a 9-1 edge in the series. Prestonsburgs last win against The Bulldogs was back in 2014 by a score of 34-26.

Who wins this 1A vs. 2A matchup? Does Hazard keep flexing? Does Prestonsburg get that signature win that its program is back?

It will be good to get some truth on Prestonsburg.

Good. I plan to try and catch some of this one. A win here for the Blackcats and it's smooth sailing to 10-0.

  • I'm not sure if I'm going back tomorrow or not. Depends on how work goes tomorrow.

It’s difficult to gauge the two so far, and I haven't seen Hazard in-person yet. But Prestonsburg did look pretty darn good against Shelby Valley.

This will be the first regular season game of the year I'm going to watch. I’ve always enjoyed my trips to Prestonsburg.

Prestonsburg has rushed for over a 1000 yards already in 2 games. They have thrown for 190 yards. The three headed monster of Johnson,Hatfield, and Patton are doing some major damage. This will be a bigger step in competition as Hazard will be the toughest team on there schedule. A win here could be a defining moment in Prestonsburg getting back to what it once was.

I think this is a sneaky good game. Admittedly I don’t know much about the two programs but I saw a few clips of Prestonsburg in their last game and they looked big and extremely physical. Will definitely check in on this one Friday night.

They ran roughshod over Shelby Valley, but that may say just as much about Valley as it does P'burg. I do agree though, the Blackcats passed the eye test. At least relative to their competition that night.

I agree. If they can win this one, then I see a 10-0 record.

I saw this from Facebook. I wasn’t for sure if they was still doing the speed training but I guess so.
