Danville wins a defensive battle in Marion County at the Kentucky Cooperage Bowl.  The game was scoreless at the half as each team could get into the other's territory but were unable to do much after that.  Danville finally got on the board in the third quarter and led 6-0 with 9 minutes to play but then craziness ensued.  The Admirals stopped Fairdale at the one yard line but botched the snap on a punt, producing a safety.  Still up 6-2, Fairdale took advantage of a pass interference call on the ensuing drive and scored a touchdown and two point conversion to go up 10-6.  However, some penalties on the kickoff let the Admirals start their final drive in good field position on the Fairdale 34.  Some 10+ yard runs by QB Kruger and Jayvean Meaux resulted in a 6-yard Meaux score with less than two minutes to go and then the Admirals held off Fairdale's last drive to win a nail biter.

This is the first time the Admirals have won consecutive games since October 2022.  It is their lowest scoring win since defeating Boyle County 10-7 in 2017, which was during the Admirals 15-0 state title season and the game where Nathan Hazlett kicked a long field goal on a Thursday night for the victory.

It was nice to see the Ads defense step up when it was required.  The offense still needs some work, especially through the air, and the Admirals could really benefit from a kicker as they were forced to go for it when they would get deep into Fairdale territory and it gave Fairdale good field position on kickoffs, usually on their own 40.

Danville (2-0) plays at Anderson County (0-1 going into tonight) next week.  Fairdale (0-2) hosts Eastern (0-1 going into tonight).

Congrats to Danville. Do the Ads have a soccer team? When I was in school we always recruited a member of the soccer team to come out and kick.

They do.  They had a good kicker last year but he graduated.  I'm sure Stonebreaker is searching for an answer there but it's a glaring roster hole right now for whatever reason.
