The Steve Stonebreaker era began with a bang last Friday night as the Danville Admirals (1-0) broke a 23-game losing streak, crushing Fort Knox 49-12 in the second game of their Pigskin Classic.  Freshman running back Jayvian Meaux scored 4 touchdowns, running for 136 yards on eleven attempts.  Junior Trinden Sellers scored two touchdowns, one receiving and one on the opening kickoff.

This week the Ads play Fairdale (0-1) in the first game of the Kentucky Cooperage Bowl at Marion County.  Fairdale had a tough opener, falling to 5A #7 Woodford County 47-7 in the Fort Harrod Bowl.  Fairdale will be looking for a better defensive effort after giving up more than 300 yards through the air last week.  Last season, Fairdale only won two games, so this is another clash of teams that are looking to position themselves for brighter days.

The Ads are going to take some games on the chin this year, but I think Stonebreaker is going to show an immediate marked improvement. Fairdale is a team that will be a good measuring stick. On paper this is one of the games I expect Danville to lose , but it's not like they are playing a dominant force.  Fairdale is a lower pack 5A team.

The goal is to compete for 4 Quarters. A win is gravy. A close loss is a good step forward.

Not a good start for the Ads as Fairdale starts with an onside kick and recovers it after it bounces off an Admiral player.

Ads come up with a big stop on a 4th & 2 on their own 44.

Ads march down the field, largely on the runs of Jayvian Meaux.  However, they turn the ball over on downs afterward at the Fairdale 20 and Fairdale has it back with 6:19 left in the 1Q.

Danville defense gets a big sack to back Fairdale up to their own 5 yard line and then forces a punt, which goes to the Fairdale 40 yard line.

Ads fail to put the ball into the end zone again.

Score is 0-0 after the first quarter.

Defense is the name of the game so far.  Ads prevent Fairdale from moving the ball through the air and force another punt.  This time, Trinden Sellers zigs and zags all the way to the Fairdale 25.

However, Ads pass into the end zone is underthrown and Fairdale INTERCEPTS.

Fairdale drives into Admirals territory but after knocked back.  They punt again and Sellers takes the ball to the Ads 35.  A little more than 6:00 to go in the second quarter.
