Campbell County is a good team. They are a scrappy team, and play hard. I don't really think it was fair to call them a cupcake team. One thing to remember, Campbell County is a public school. Most students that attend the school, attend because they live in that area, not because of a particular sport.

I really don't think there was need to say that about Campbell County. They are a tough little team. Yes, I realize that Notre Dame And Boone County are the top 2 teams in Northern Kentucky. But, I think by saying that, you are degrading the Lady Camels' team. And I can guarantee that those girls work just as hard on the floor as Notre Dame girls do.

Thank you shsbballmom!! I will be the first to agree that Notre

Dame and Boone are top notch teams. I often will go watch them play if my own daughters team isn't playing on a particular night. But I agree that there are many other teams out there who are just as dedicated and work just as hard as Notre Dame girls. Maybe even harder!! As some of these other teams are not as loaded with talent as Boone or Notre Dame ...they often have to work extra hard to get the job done. I think it is really demeaning to say that some teams are teams that "you just have to show up to beat". My daughters team probably would be put in that category by some.... but I guarantee there aren't any other teams who work any harder than hers. I have personally heard many of the girls say at particular games.. "this is the night". Because any given team on any given night can beat another. Some maybe a little more likely than others:rolleyes: but none the less! Our girls do hustle, have great attitude, come to play their games and want to work to get better! I would love to hear about some of the "lesser known teams" successes!:D

ShortDad, I agree with you about the theoldguys demeaning comments. But I must add the NDA coach should be admired for not trying to run up a crazy score like we see around some programs. Both organizations NDA and CCHS showed great class for how they approached this game. I don't think Boone would run up a score either for that matter.

Theoldguy may be very blunt but doesn't speak for NDA, he is equally as hard on NDA players as he is on other teams and he always seems to get the dander up of opposing teams. Guess that is what blogging is all about unfortunately.

Let me defend OldGuy. I've read his post and nowhere did he say that CCHS or any other team's girls do not work hard, practice hard, have great attitudes, do not come to play, nor want to get better. That's expected of all teams. He simply pointed out that it was a mismatch from the get-go and NDA would win the game with a sub-par effort. While painful to hear if you're a CCHS fan/parent, its also true. I've been on both ends so I understand it can be painful to watch your child play on a team that , despite their best efforts and intentions, simply cannot compete. It makes you appreciate their efforts even more since they're not doing it for the glory of winning.

Like it or not, OGs point is valid.

Sh and Nd both will be tough teams come tourny time but i also think CCHS will make some noise of there own they have a nice little program and a good staff who prepare the girls well Good Luck to all three teams as the year draws to an end Remeber this is high school basketball and anything can happen on any given night!

Gee finally people posting in the girls basketball forum! WOW, where have you all been since the start of the season? I don't see many of you posting about the games that your daughters play in like I see comments on the Boys forums from fans of the game. Sorry to hurt your feelings but I call them like I see them, and no I don't have a Daughter playing basketball so I don't have to attend the many, many games I attend, I do it because I love to and have been doing it since the early to mid 80's.

One of the major problem of the Girls Basketball Forum, and indeed Girls Basketball, is that only the Parents come to the games or post on this forum. Why? I think one reason is because if a poster like me who enjoys the game says anything that hurts poor little Suzie team, Mommy will come to the rescue, and tell that mean oldguy to be nice.

Now what did I post that hurt your feelings shsbballmom..

Let's see, I said that It's tough to play a team the night before, that you literally only have to show up to beat, then the next night, have to play (IMO) the best team in the Commonwealth.

Well was I lying, not telling the truth, was I making something up, even in the Enquirer the Campbell Coach said "I thought we backed away from the competition," Campbell County coach Ed Cravens said. "That was one of those games when we had everything to win and nothing to lose. All we had to do was come out and play hard and get a little respect, and I don't think we did that." So even your own Coach said that you didn't earn any respect, and you are mad at me?

I also said: Why NDA would schedule a game against a tough team a hour and a half away, after playing a cupcake team the night before just makes me wonder. NDA must understand that when they play the big girls they must bring their "A" game as teams like SH aren't going to be beaten by just showing up like Campbell was on Friday.....

I personally think the NDA parents could be mad at me for saying that, but I was at the game, and sorry, but....again what did I say that was not truthful. Compared to SH Campbell is a cupcake and I think that is a fair statement. Lets see SH could be the #1 team in the State this week, while Campbell isn't even rated in the top ten in NKy....

So let me have it if I lie, or put out false information, but.....don't knock me because I am not PC....

I agree....NDA's coach is always VERY classy. My post was not a knock in any way to the NDA program. Always a great game to watch, the fans support their teams like no other and the players are as classsy as the coach. Good luck in the 9th to the Pandas!!!!

To be honest with you, sir, you really did not hurt my feelings one bit. I am a tough lady, and can take whatever it is you feel the need to say. I just really don't think what you said was necessary. You have a right to your opinion, and I respect that. And, I would hope in return, that you respect my opinion, And, my daughter does not even play for Campbell County. Her team has played against them and lost. And, for the record, her team plays NDA tomorrow night. Another cupcake team for NDA. I am familiar with quite a few of the younger girls at NDA, due to another sport that my daughter is involved with. And, the girls are very nice girls. That is nice that you feel the need to tell like it is. And, I have no doubt that NDA basketball is going to have a great year this year.

Funny SHSbballmom, I watched S play CC on cable last week and it was fun watching all the former teammates play. We enjoy following high school ball due to all the girls we have met and come to know along the AAU path. It is hard at times to see former teammates going against one another but they all handle it so well. Hard nosed on the court and hugging after the games. Good luck the rest of the way and stay healthy.

I disagree! State wide recognition, to me anyway, is like putting importance on the Lit/Cantrell rankings. If you speaking of individual recognition, the players who are good are already known around the state thanks to the age of computers.

I respectfully disagree. Not at all concerned with Lit/Cantrell rankings since they are totally based on point spreads, so they aren't affected by teams playing downstate teams at all. Individual players better play downstate and be seen LIVE if they want recognition, because you can't base anything on "computer" info. People want to see players personally if they are going to recognize players or teams.

Who are you referring to being recognized by?

The rankings are more involved than just point spreads but as you say they are of no concern. The people who need to see the athletes play come to see these athletes play, they don't have to go "Downstate."

The most important people to watch these athletes are college coaches which, hopefully, the high school coaches are doing part of their job and sending letters out for these athletes.
