Today, the Kentucky State Police announced the success of Operation Summer Heat 2.0, a statewide drug enforcement effort. 

Preliminary results indicate 197 arrests and 490 charges issued, along with the combined seizure of 6,046 grams of methamphetamine, 600 fentanyl pills, 127 oxycodone doses and more. The estimated street value of the drugs collected exceeds $640,000. 

Additionally, troopers confiscated 82 firearms, $181,381 in cash, and $200,000 worth of stolen property and also recovered a stolen vehicle. 

The investigation remains active, and more arrests are expected in the coming weeks.

Probably because other law enforcement agencies work those areas.

Wasn't that the area that was HEAVILY affected by the opioid issues within the state?

In the past for sure but I don't keep up with such things any longer.  With that said, the numbers in the Pikeville area jumped out at me.

Exactly. It's rare to see a KSP trooper north of Dry Ridge. There are about half a dozen different task forces or drug units in NKY, as well as HSI, DEA, FBI, ATF and US Marshall's. It's a well saturated area for law enforcement. 

I am prosecuting several of these cases from the Nelson County area.
