In district 1, there are several coaches that are doing big things. Melvin Cunningham has done really well in his few years at Murray and is set to have a big season in 3A this year, could go 10-0 regular season.  Coach Thompson has won lots of games at Paducah put together 2 great seasons with a state championship coming last year. They look to repeat again this season.  Union County Coach Johns is another coach that has turned a program around and will try to continue that success this season with their only loss probably coming to Murray High.  Coach Dew(Mayfield) had a rocky first year with big loses to Tilghman and LCA, and one might consider it a fluke loss to cross town rival, Graves.  Dew looks to bounce back and get some revenge on those teams in year 2 and make a run for a state championship.

Graves just can't seem to get any respect in WKY.  They had a 9-3 season under a 1st year head coach playing in an extremely tough district that they were predicted to finish 3rd in pre-season and played several games without their #1 WR and #1 RB.  The game with South Warren who was supposed to running clock them in the 1st half was much closer than many people probably think.

Was not intending to not give Graves respect. They had a good season last year and Mayfield win was big for them. But this next year will be a rebuilding year for them. I thought Coach Gregory has been there for a long time and came back couple years ago as head coach?

He came back on an interim for 1 season due to the head coach stepping away in June.  They had a 1st year head coach this season.  Yes Graves is graduating a lot of players but they started a ton of Sophomores this season and have really good classes coming up for the next few years.

Tood Adler at Logan County is another one that stands out. Especially considering that when he took over, the Cougar were coming off three consecutive winless seasons. While last season wasn't the best, they have been a consistent 8-10 win team for most of his tenure.

When Logan played Boyle int he 2021 Semi's they brought a LOT of fans and a pep band.  Was very impressed by the support and staff.

One game I'm worried about for us. Everytime we travel to Graves it's a close game. Too close. I know they don't play well up here at Rash but we don't play well at Graves. To be honest, I'm nervous about our season at Owensboro. Starting out with St. X, CAL, DC, Catholic, Graves, and even Apollo is going to be tough. 

I respect Graves and I know it's not going to be an easy game.

I didn't see anything else about where he went in the 2024 season, but Thompson had been there since at least end of June 2024
