I watched and paused it multiple times as well and there was no question it was off DCA.

Some of the coaches and fans have crossed the line this year.  That is why the t's and ejection have taken place.  

Don't get personal and do not approach an official during the game and everything should be fine.

A referee in Wayne Co. has a game at Mercer on a Tuesday night with start time of 7:30. That is 1 hr and 40 minutes according to Google.  One way!  They have to be at the gym at least 45 minutes before start time.

That quickly turns into a 5-to-5.5-hour night for $80.  Are you going to do this and listen to a coach or fan cuss you and try to embarrass you?  I think not.  Also, don't forget the wear and tear on their vehicles and bodies to travel to these games.

I believe that most referees do this as a 2nd job to supplement their incomes and I believe that they all do it because they love the game.

I was waiting for someone to come to the referees defense.  That's fine, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter.  But, I will always side with the coaches who do "their 1st job" for chump change and have to deal with these arrogant so called professionals that are on a constant power trip.  Their calls and bias affect the coaches livelihoods.  Because if they don't win in today's society, they will be fired quickly.  I haven't witnessed any fan or coach "cuss officials" this season.  What I have witnessed, is officials being chesty and getting in the faces of coaches and fans when it isn't warranted.  The quick trigger technicals are out of control in this region!  Like I said, as a "2nd job"  means they can do something else.  There are plenty of other things to do to supplement income.  There are plenty of younger officials in this region that will openly admit when they miss some calls and have some humility.  I think most coaches can handle that...  Like I said, just my take. 

Some of these refs "never" miss a call and "it's always an easy one".

Joe has a decent argument for quite a few of the officials.  However, like in most areas, the exceptions are a real problem.  Most of the games I attend are in the vicinity of Danville/Boyle County and it seems like I see the same group of officials all the time.  I'd say the 80/20 rule applies.  80% of the ridiculous calls and arrogant attitudes come from the same small percentage of officials.  I don't know if it's 20% or 5%, but there are some who actually surprise you if they call a decent game.  There are a few, who I won't mention by name, who should have given it up a few years ago.

I'm glad you actually clarified for me.  I'm not talking about every official.  Most try to do it well... But, like everything there are some that don't and will never admit any fault/mistakes.  Those need to be weeded out, and the game in our area would improve. 

I went down to the Wayne - Clinton double header Tuesday night at Wayne.  Great atmosphere for a Tuesday night high school game. Top 25 team in town coming off their first loss of the season, stands were full, both cheer squads present, pep band and lively student section.  The same refs did both games.  I have reffed lower level games over the years and understand that generally, most refs want to do a good job at the end of the day but it's a tough job if done right.

I think by the time the boys game rolled around, the refs were not ready for the speed and physicality of the game. It was up and down to start and quickly got physical. I feel like the game got away from them and by the end of the night, there was blatant pushing with both hands, football box-outs, elbows being thrown above the shoulders and non stop chatter between some opposing players.  I have been to games where certain refs reigned a game like this in pretty quick, but it didn't happen in this one for whatever reason. I'm thankful nobody from either team was seriously injured.

I have to agree with you about the arrogant attitudes, but I do believe that it is a small percentage of referees.  

There are some things that could be done to improve the situation.  First, every school could be required to provide a high quality video feed of every game.  If a school the size of Somerset can do it then surely a school like Boyle (artificial turf, weight room as big as many small colleges) can do it.  Lake Cumberland Sports offers a quality video feed for lots of the games in Pulaski County.  In this age of low cost technology it shouldn't be a problem.  Plus, there are plenty of tech kids in every school who would jump at the chance to do it.

Second, hire some qualified people (retired players, coaches, officials, etc) to examine the video and note the time stamp and the missed calls.  It doesn't take that long to do a 32 minute game.  Vet them to make sure they know what they're doing.  Assign people who have no vested interest in either team to examine the video.

If certain patterns show up such as way too many missed calls that favor one team over the other or if one official is making most of the bad calls then bump it up for another KHSAA official to review.

Boyle does do it. They stream all their home games on team1prep through student led BCSN. They also do away games when schools allow them.
