16thBBall Fan Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Final from Lexington Catholic. The Broncos were led in scoring by Dakari Talbert and Tate Robinson with 15 points each. The Defenders were led by Amari Owens with 43 points. Frederick Douglass improves to 9-2 on the season with their only two losses were against two of the top teams in the state in Great Crossing and St. X. Bryan Station falls to 11-2 with their only losses to Douglass and Bryant AR in the King of the Bluegrass last week. 2 1
LouHSJunkie Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Two very good teams here and a huge win for Frederick Douglass. 2
Statsdontlie Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Bryan Station had the best player on the floor but Frederick Douglass had the better team. Owens and Adams are the only players Station got that can score, Douglass got about 7 kids that can score. FD also has a great coach. Bryan Station better find some guys other than Owens and Adams if they want to be a factor in the 11th Region. Football and basketball still runs through FD in Lexington! 1

It was an 8 point loss on a neutral site. I don't think it is time to write Bryan Station off as being a factor in the 11th Region. Wins over Madison Central, Woodford County, Newport, South Laurel, and DuPont Manual say otherwise. It was a nice win for Frederick Douglass....but it is December. There's a clear separation between the top 4 teams in the 11th, and the rest right now. 1

They had control of the whole game. I wouldn't count out Station BUT they better get some more help around Owens and Adams. I think they need another guard to help Owens. 1

Owens has make his teammates better. Definitely felt like FD was in control all game and was a bigger win than 8. FD was smart mixing in different types of zones. Most impressive about this win is FD didn’t get into a track meet with station slowing the game down and valuing possessions. Station got most of their points second half by mucking the game up wasn’t any execution to the offense. Score doesn’t tell the story of the game.
