They didn't make it to the finals. They lost to Virgie led by Todd May in the 2nd round I believe.

That is correct. They lost to Troy McKinney and Simon Kenton in the final game the year before. That game set a national all-time high school attendance record at the time.

What was so surprising in '82 was that the Royals had lost 3 or 4 starters from the previous year's state runner-up team.

Back to tomorrow's game at Rowan. Does anyone else think that the 16th Region officiating style will cramp Mason County's style? I'm glad they got a look at 16th referreeing in the Fleming County game.

Well darnit, my mistake then. Sorry about that.

As for the officiating, you would think they would be whistle happy, but you would also think the Royals would know about that by now.

Mason 78-64

Didn't Mason County lose to Rowan at Rowan when Lofton was a junior or senior?

I'm guessing that you're remembering the 2005 game; Mason lost at Rowan. Chris had already graduated by then.

Saturday @ The Fieldhouse:

6:00 Russell County (Willie Feldhaus, coach) vs. Bracken County

7:30 Mason County 1981-82 team reunion

8:00 Mason County vs. Madison Central (Allen Feldhaus Jr., coach)

Is this supposed to be some kind of showcase?

This game is cancelled.

This game is cancelled.

Can you confirm this or did this announcement, come from either school?

Yes it is cancelled.

Not so sure about that. They cancelled FRIDAY game, but I don't think they have cancelled Saturday games.
