Sorry but the Tigers dumping Davis is a good move. The kid lied to Coach Miles. He got caught and his offer was pulled. He will likely be replaced by a kid named Jason Peters that is rated at #8 as opposed to Davis' #12. Also, Joe McKnight the #1 player in the country was at LSU this weekend for his final visit. I'm hearing things went very well. The good news for me is that McKnight will be with LSU or USC next year, either way it helps my bet. Sorry CR, no damage on this one. Davis is also rumored to be having grade issues. The bet is which team wins the national title first. Ballpark it, when do you see Charlie Tuna winning the national title? Will you son be joining us for that dinner? Will I be able to buy him a drink by then?:lol:

Yes. But it was beyond that with Davis. He didn't inform Coach Males that he had a change of heart and wanted to look at other schools. In those cases Miles tells the kid he is no longer committed and neither is LSU. Which is fine, and it may work out that the two can still get back together. Davis lied and said he was going out of town to "attend his uncle's funeral". He got caught and Miles nixed his deal. He was wavering all along as LSU is still in the hunt for some higher ranked kids at his position and likely would have moved on to Bama or Oklahoma. I still commend Coach Miles for having the conviction to do the right thing. LSU has 16 4-star commits with Davis. They likely will end up with that number or more without him.

Yes. At first he tried to spark some interest from Oklahoma as well but Stoops didn't bite. He then decided to sign with Bama. Saban has contacted a number of LSU commits and been told no-sale. Ironically Davis committed at the Army All-Star game and helped the Tigers secure some other commits. The Barksdale kid from Detroit is one who would probably play the same position ahead of Davis.

Different lists have different kids at the top. For example Rivals has Clausen #1 and McKnight #2. ESPN Top 150 has McKnight #1 and Clausen #9. I'm sure they are both pretty good gets.

McKnight is the RB that went up to Hoover and beat the stars of "two a days". I think John Curtis has about 500 students and will have about 9 kids on their football team go to school for free next fall. Pretty impressive.

News out of West-Monroe La. has Davis visiting La. Tech. Word is that Luther doesn't have the GPA or scores to attend an SEC school. Interesting... Maybe Coach Krag should give him a look. He is a four star DE that played in the Army All-Star game.

How can Louisville take kids that SEC schools cannot? Are there different standards?

Yes, the Cards can take some kids who cannot get into a SEC school and there is nothing wrong with that. I'm not gonna mention any kids.

 

Verbals don't mean a whole lot. We had a QB that gave us a verbal who's cell phone played "Yea Alabama" and now he might be a Cane. A lot of kids growing up were LSU fans and remember Coach Saban and thats why he has contacted those kids. Nothing wrong with that either.

 

The thing now days is for a kid to have three hats on the table and preteend to pick one and put on the other.

Luther Davis has been as big a circus recruiting-wise as I have ever heard of. He didn't just visit Bama, he lied about visiting Bama, so I see no problem with pulling the offer. And the quotes from his mom over all this are HILARIOUS.

 

He was a 5 star, but he's dropped to a 4. And Louisville was in on him until last month, so we might end up the destination. But I don't know, he sounds like a headcase and I wouldn't hazard a prediction at this point.
