January 29, 200719 yr I don't know if they are lesser perse as opposed to different. There may be classes the Big East want that the SEC doesn't and vice versa, scores to GPA standards could be different ect. But the Big East is not a weak conference academically.

That may be the case but let me ask you this: Have you ever heard of a recruit being denied admission to a Big East school, but being admitted to an SEC school? I have not. I'm just trying to figure out why there are differing standards for recruits among conferences under the auspicies of the NCAAA.

Vandy does not allow mid-year transfers. A highly touted player wished to transfer there this year. His plan was to enter Vandy this spring to get the process going. No deal says Gordon Gee. No other school in the SEC has this rule. I think Duke has the same rule as well but it isn't an ACC rule.

What does the SEC have to gain by having "stricter/tougher/different" requirements than other conferences?
January 29, 200719 yr What does the SEC have to gain by having "stricter/tougher/different" requirements than other conferences? Its not just that conferences are different. Schools within each conference are different. Gain? Who knows. Those academics are a quirky bunch.

It's funny how know one knows anything this week about this subject.Just last week I think there was a thread about a Florida recruit that was coming to U of L because he didn't have a math class that he needed to get in.He didn't want to take the class so he decided to go to Louisville. It's funny how the cards faithful keep comparing themselves to the gators and LSU and other sec teams.Too bad they went to the big easy and not the sec.
