What will South Laurel look like next year with coach Wright ??

South loses ALOT. Tye Proffit (Notre Dame signee), Trey Smith (Morehead St. baseball signee), and Jordan Hammonds just to name a few. These three make up SL this year, but I'm sure Wright will have something cooked up for next year.

Youngsters Matt St. John, Matt Gilbert and Jordan Bortnem have all seen starting duty, and will be expected to pick up the load as best they can. They will fall off next year, but they will still be in the mix of contenders in the 13th.

Gilbert could be a MR. Basketball candidate before its all said and done.

I listened to the game on the radio and it went as I thought that it would. One question though, why did Coach Wright leave Hammonds, Profitt, and Smith in for most of the game? Wouldn't this have been a good game for some of his younger players to have some playing time and what if one of the "Big 3" had gotten hurt. It would have been a shame to lose one of them this close to District against a team such as Williamsburg. Nothing against Williamsburg but South could have won without the "Big 3" in the game.

Thanks !! Mix with Cumberland and who ??

I'd say the top teams in the 13th region based on what's coming back will be.

Corbin

Cumberland

Knox Central

South

Jackson

Pineville

Clay

He is going to be a good player, but these type of expectations may be a little overboard.

Wright must really hate the Burg.......did someone forget to tell him that Coach Haynes is no longer at Williamsburg.

I didnt see the game but in the box score SL lead 40-5 at end of 1st quarter. 15 players scored with 7 in double figures and the leading scorer had 14 points. From those stats in doesnt appear as if he played anyone to long or tried to run it up.

Williamsburg has a long way to go, except for the first period I don't have a problem with Wright...

A lot of kids scored for South. When did Coach Wright pull the big three? The Cunningham kid had 19. It sounds like he is beginning to shoot the ball real well. Williamsburg is still moving forward and hopefully they will be able to bounce back from this. South's big three are kids that Williamsburg can not hope to maevh up with because of their size and strength. How much do Tye and Jordan weigh? Over than Frazier Williamsburg has nobody in that weight class.

I don't have a problem with Wright. Just wondered why he would risk hurting one of his players that he would need in the upcoming district games against a team he could easily beat without them. The fact that so many of his other players scored big proves my point.
