No order: Beatty, Lampley, Glaser, Mueller, Hilton, Haywood, Redman, Chuck Smith, Harp, Scroggins

5A is one of the weakest divisions in KY and really benefitted when the expansion happened. I know he has a ton of wins, but when you get nearly every kid in one of the fastest growing counties in the state its a bit different. It's even more different nowadays!!!

I just think the overall level of play was way higher in the Glaser era.

Strongly disagree.

That is a great list of fantastic coaches. They all achieved at a high level for a long time.

I like Wallace but he's not in my top 10 all time @theguru

My argument for Wallace would be:

4th all-time for wins;

Ranked 5th for State Championships won;

Has won State Championships at two schools, both in KY's biggest classes;

Of the 13 coaches with 8 or more State Championship appearances, he is the only coach who has done it at two different schools;

and has a winning record against St. X (5-4 -- 2-2 against Glaser).

Of the 10 folks you named and then stated that Wallace had an advantage of being in BG - 3 coached at the two most prominent private all-boys schools in the biggest city in KY, and 2 more coached at magnet schools in Jefferson Co. that saw their football prowess changed significantly by open bussing. This is not to say that they don't belong in the conversation, but to allude that Wallace had some advantage that they didn't is just silly.

@#RockNation

Unsure what you mean by Wallace getting every kid in Bowling Green, are they and have they been the best school in town even prior to his arrival? Absolutely, but I believe with that statement you are undermining the talent across the Bowling Green/Warren County community. We have seen what South Warren has done, but I look at a team like Warren Central in the early ‘10s after the expansion who if weren’t stuck in the region with the Purples could’ve had an opportunity at a championship or two of their own. It wasn’t as if BG set up their playoff schedule in 5A, and all through the regular season they would beat some of the best teams in and out of the State.

Wallace is no doubt a top 10 coach in our State’s history, unsure how one could field an argument that he isn’t without it being personal. I just know there is no way it can start with “he just gets the best players” you can literally say that about every great coach who is remembered. Wish him and the Tigers the best of luck this season.
