The Reds (47-50) travel to our Nation's Capital to take on the Nationals (44-53) for a 3 game weekend series. The Reds need to start the 2nd half of the season with taking at least 2 out of 3 in this one before going to Atlanta for a big 3 game series with the Braves.

Reds down 8-1 through 8 innings.

Plated runs late to cut it to 8-5, but still lost.    Not a very good showing to open the 2nd half of the season.

Montas is a puzzling pitcher. Seems a little like Hunter Greene last year. Has stuff. Can throw strikes but giving up big hits in key situations that leads to bad results.

The Reds are up 2-0 in the 1st.

2-2 in the 2nd.

4 all in the 7th.

Reds led 4-2 after 3 innings and now trail 5-4 heading into the top of the 9th.

Reds lose 2nd straight after the all-star break 5-4.

Chance to make up some ground, 13 games against 4 terrible teams and we’re now 5-7 in that stretch, when we don’t make the playoffs again this year we can probably look back at these 2 weeks.

Reds had a chance to blow this one open in the top of the first and only managed to plate 2 runs.   Came back to bite them.

5-8 against Tigers, Rockies, Marlins and Nationals, including being SWEPT by Tigers and Nationals, absolutely pathetic

needed to go 10-3 against those teams, minimum 9-4

I see Marte completed the fielding grand slam today, he’s made errors on grounders, popups, making throws today completed it by making an error catching throws, whew!!

Also see Elly made ANOTHER out on the bases today, man, there’s a BIG difference between being aggressive and being silly on the bases

We all know what happens next - they will sweep the Braves.

Ugh!!   Brutal weekend.
