Yes that what's Billy and Mark said. Billy said TJ hurt himself late in the Cov Holy Cross game. When you consider that CovCath played without TJ, this win was really, really impressive.. Male with out Heyman isn't the same team, but if TJ can't play on Friday night..........well...

 

A lot of CovCath Dad's will not be at the Male game Friday night, as it is the NDA Father/Daughters Dance. :dancingpa

Good game for Luke Maile with 13 and 8. I assume he started. Good to see Noll and Schmerge combine for 14 boards.

 

FT shooting is still a concern.

I don't think Cov. Cath. took one bad shot all night. They continued to work the ball around until they got a good look.

Even the curley headed third string pg played with poise and purpose. It's always a pleasure to watch Coach Listerman's teams play. They understand the concept of team basketball.

Junior guard Chris Bondick and junior forward Michael Grimes scored 14 points each as Covington Catholic overcame an early seven-point deficit and avenged an early-season loss to Lexington Lafayette with a 67-58 victory Thursday night in the Toyota Classic.

"I'm very pleased because we lost our starting center last week (Billy Schult, to a torn knee ligament) and we played tonight without our leading scorer (Todd Jacobs, who has a leg injury) and our kids really responded," Covington Catholic coach Mike Listerman said.

Covington Catholic outrebounded Lafayette 40-28.

That's him. He doesn't pass the "look test" but he did a good job running the offense and guarding some pretty quick kids from Lafayette.

I may have mentioned this once or twice on here: Brandon Brown is hands down the best on-the-ball defender in the 9th region.
