There are a lot of district games being made-up  Monday night including River Ridge at Clearwater.

Make up district game, postponed from 10/11 after Hurricane Milton.

Clearwater 49 River Ridge 6

I did not expect this. River Ridge came into the game 6-1 (1-0) and may have seriously underestimated Clearwater. They got punched in the mouth early and never recovered. 21-0 after the first quarter. 35-0 at the half. Running clock the rest of the game with River Ridge scoring on the final play of the game.

Clearwater controls it's own destiny as it travels to district foe Countryside for it's season finale this Friday.

Meanwhile in Florida ...

Clearwater at Countryside

My grandson's last regular season game started with Clearwater kicking off. Countryside went backwards for 3 plays then Clearwater blocked their punt through the end zone for a safety. On the ensuing free kick by Countryside, Clearwater ran it in for their first TD. It went downhill for Countryside from there. It was 30-0 after the first quarter. 58-0 at the half. Even with the running clock in the 2nd half, the Tornados managed another 3 TDs.

My texts from that point on...

Countryside fumbles. Clearwater recovers. 2 plays Clearwater TD. 7:01 1st. 16-0

Countryside next possession. 4 plays. +5 yards on a Clearwater offsides, 3 plays for -15 yards. Punt. Clearwater returns to the CS 30. 2 plays. Clearwater TD. 4:23 left 1st. 23-0

Countryside starts at their 18 yard line. Clearwater offsides. Loss of 5. Clearwater offsides. Loss of 3. No gain. Bad Punt. Went out of bounds. Net 10 yards. 1 play. Clearwater TD. 1:31 1st. 30-0

After an illegal block penalty, Countryside starts at their own 12 yard line. Goes backwards. Quarter ends with Countryside on their own 4, 3rd down.

1st play of the second quarter, Countryside fumbles. Clearwater recovers at the 2. 1 play Clearwater TD. 11:44 left in the half. 37-0

Next Countryside possession. Clearwater scoop and score. 10:56 left in the half. 44-0

Next Countryside possession ran back to the Clearwater 40. 1st play. Fumble recovered by Clearwater at the Countryside 35. 35 yard pass. TD Clearwater. 9:45 left in the half. 51-0

Next Countryside possession. Offsides Clearwater. No gain. Loss of 3. Offsides Clearwater. Loss of 10. Fumble. Scoop and score Clearwater. 7:41 left in the half. 58-0

Next Countryside possession. Illegal procedure Countryside. Loss of 10. Personal foul Clearwater. Loss of 5. Incomplete pass. Punt. Roughing the kicker on Clearwater. Countryside 1st down. Off sides Clearwater. No gain. 8 yard run for Countryside. 1st down Countryside Loss of 10. Offsides Clearwater. Holding Countryside. Loss of 5. Offsides Clearwater. Punt with 5 seconds left in the half. Clearwater returner steps out at the Countryside 2 to end the half. 58-0

2nd half. Clearwater receives kickoff. Running clock. Clearwater runs a total of 5 plays including penalties and scores a TD on a long run. 7:47 left in the 3rd. 65-0.

1st play of 4th quarter. TD Clearwater. 72-0

2 minutes left. Clearwater interception. 1 play, ran it in for a TD. Missed XP. 78-0.

Clearwater wins the district outright. They have their open date next week. The FHSAA extended the season to accommodate for the recent hurricanes, so Clearwater's next game will be in the first round of the playoffs in three weeks, on November 15th.

* The Largo/Palmetto (Manatee) game is a noon today. My understanding is that thanks to Hurricane Milton, Palmetto lost part of their school and their football stadium lost bleachers, lights, goal posts, and their scoreboard. I believe they have a portable scoreboard for today's game, and the noon start highlights the lack of lighting.

St. Eds won again.
