This one on paper looks to be a major mismatch, but that is why they play the game. Great Crossing is the champions of region 11 and are the #1 ranked in the state and the #15 ranked team nationally. They come into the quarterfinal game with Magoffin at 35-1. The Hornets of Magoffin Co. are the champions of region 15 this is their first time in the state tournament as is the Warhawks so one of these teams will be headed to the state semifinal in their first ever trip to the state tournament Magoffin is 22-13 on the season they had a nice win over Perry Co. Cent. from the 14th region 54-47. The Warhawks defeated Spencer Co. 62-48 they led by 12 in the first half and trailed by as many as 7 early in the 4th quarter before pulling away. This game is the opening game of the quarterfinals on Friday at 11:00am.

The Warhawks are led by Vince Dawson averaging 18 points per game and 7'1" Malachi Moreno who averages 13 points and 13 rebounds per game. The Hornets are led by senior Aden Barnett who averages over 29 points per game. I look for the Hornets to try and pack it in and hope that Great Crossing shoots it as bad from 3 as they did vs. Spencer Co. where they were only 1-8 and just 5-14 from the foul line. They have played 1 common opponent in Ashland. Magoffin played the Tomcats twice and lost both times by scores of 69-45 and 66-52. The Warhawks played the Tomcats the last game of the regular season at Ashland and defeated the Tomcats 72-59. I look for the Warhawks to win this one by 15+.

Anyone think Magoffin has a chance?

Great Crossing looked scary good to me.

If they have two or three guys shoot it like Jack Gohlke did tonight maybe but I don't see it.

It is now 44-17 with still 3:30 left in the 2nd quarter this one will likely be a running clock early in the 2nd half. The fans will have a lot of time to hit the ice cream stand since the next game won't start until 1:30.

55-25 with 28 seconds left in the half.

There is now a running clock at 61-25 with just under 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

If I was GC I would empty my bench and rest my starters.
