DCA 56 Wayne 37

DCA’s two big kids were in foul trouble and one of their top subs was in street clothes.  It was a 4 point game at halftime but DCA held them to 4 points in the third quarter.

Dumphord for Wayne County played well as did Boyd, Dut, and Ateny.

This result is about what I expected. They’re going to have to have a really off night to be taken down in district or regional play.

Statement win for DCA. The 12th Region goes through Shakertown Road. 

Wasn’t able to see the game and no stats posted yet. What was the turning point of the game. Score seemed close and competitive through half. Wayne just not hit shots? Did they have good shots?  DCA turn them over a lot?

DCA is just tenacious defensively.  Wayne didn't get a lot of clean looks.  DCA methodically stretched it out, like they tend to do.  As a previous poster said, Dumpford made some tough buckets but Farmer was a non-factor with the size and they hounded Phillips most of the game.

Boyd played really well too.  He made some shots, is the best on-ball defender in the region IMO and is all heart.  

We got our shots from 3 point around the rim shots and just places on the floor where we usually hit high percentages. that's not an easy place to shoot in so I think on another floor it could be different. Not taking away from DCA though, they are a good team that can score. You don't want to be behind from midway through 3rd quarter through fourth. They will spread the floor and do a lot of one on ones. Regional depends on how the game is allowed to be played. We have had games where touch of 2 hands on player was called and games so physical you could be pushed 10 feet and not get a whistle. So teams just have to be ready to adjust.

DCA caused Wayne to be out of any kind of offensive flow the whole game and kept both Phillips boys in check from outside.  Shots that normally fall just didn't go down and as the game progressed, the misses got worse. Wayne may have only hit one 3 (not sure on that) and it was in garbage time.  Game over for Wayne.  Credit to DCA for playing aggressive and controlling the game on both ends.

Side note: The JV game beforehand was one of the better ones I've seen in a while. Double overtime win for Wayne who starts a 7th grader, 8th grader, 2 freshman and a sophomore.

I think the way it is called is huge against them.  They play very physical on the perimeter, and there is a lot of bumping and grabbing on cutters and the dribbler.

Wayne County has the stats up for the game. They went 1-12 from three point range and 14-47 overall.  DCA can do that to you, really good team defensively.

Yes they can make you see “ghosts”.  Even open ones, can be altered or rushed with the length!
