I'm a teacher and I'm held to a higher standard than people who work at Shell. Is that a double standard?

A. that fact alone is scary

B. You knew the standard when you applied.

C. You make slightly more:D than the people that work at Shell and with the job comes greater responsibility and demands.

1, 5, 9, 45. It doesn't matter. San Diego had 5 and a player busted for steroids. Chicago had 5 including a starter with a war arsenal. In most cases it is younger players with more money than they could have ever dreamed. Big Ben broke the law by operating a motorcycle without a license. Holmes was arrested twice. Is it frustrating the Bengals keep doing stupid stuff? Sure. But it's a lot like every other NFL franchise...

Two peaople have made the choice to not be pros. One died in a war and the other died when pirates robbed his boat. This job is luck and skill and mostly the latter. NOONE makes the choice to go into business when they can play a game.

 

I didn't say, not going pro would be a wise decision. But it is a chose non the less.

Don't get me wrong. I am sure we all wish we had the ability to be a pro athlete and the chose to make. But the ones that do have the opportunity can say no, if they wish.

One thing we haven't mentioned is the socioeconomic classes that MOST professional athletes come from. Growing up in the city is rough guys. Drugs, murder, crime, is a way of life, not something you see on the news every night, but things you see around you everyday that eventually become common place. These people are much more likely to commit certain crimes and take part in certain activites.

I'm not arguing that Cincy is the only team that does it. With that logic, I'm bad, but so is everyone else. I'd guess IAM gets that with his kids. Susie did it too!!!

My point is why whine about it when your team is head and shoulders above everyone with regards to "offense" (Ranked in the top 5 in every sense of the word). Suck it up, it is what it is! No need to write the article IMO. All of it would go away if guys stay out of trouble.

Everyone chooses to go into their respective careers at some point. Not everyone has the ability to choose to be a pro athlete, just as not everyone has the ability to be a doctor. But to say that pro athletes don't choose their profession is ridiculous, and just because you or I can't make that same choice doesn't mean that they didn't have a choice. Take Derrick Caracter at UL, from the looks of things right now it appears that he has a choice to make.

Not really. If you can't make it in college you probably can't make it in the pros.

 

One has nothing to do with the other. Dexter Manley couldn't legitamitly make it through college and he turned out to be a pretty good pro. I'm sure numerous other examples would come to mind as well.

Apparently Chad, TJ, and Rudi made the right choices to get to the NFL. My reference to DC had nothing to do with off the court actions. But if he can't realize that Pitino is the one that will get him ready for the NBA, than he may end up playing pickup games with Ronnie Fields (wasn't he one timethe next big thing?)
