January 24, 200719 yr LOSERS not JAILBIRDS! It's not rocket science. The teams with the majority of success are getting quality teammates in their draft process. Look at the Colts, Pats etc. Prime example is this years Jets. They are passing on players like Lindell White even though the talent is much needed because he wasn't the quality guy they were looking for. To many red flags for them. If you like having a bunch of idiots representing your favorite team then that's your choice. Personally I'd rather have solid teammates that are focused more on winning a championships then getting high and driving drunk etc! It's all good if they like to go out and have fun but take a little responsibility for your actions! Especially when you are on the verge of being the next cast for THE LONGEST YARD!! What would you rather have? I personally was sick of awful teams. I personally don't have a big issue with any of the incidents viewed individually other than the Chris Henry issue and the Odell issue. Those are things that hurt the club. Are drinking and or doing drugs and or staying out and partying things that will effect a players onfield performance. They weren't for a HUGE list of players who still managed to win and be successful. I'm not condoning the behavior. Not in any way, shape, or form. Right now it's bad. I think on all NFL teams it's bad, but with the Bengals I think it's peaked. I've played football. Some of THE BEST players I played with were idiots. Some of the best I played against were idiots. Their teams won. They made plays. They were friends with their teammates. I'd like to give you some examples, but this isn't the place. On the professional level. LT was amazing, Odell last year was phenomenal, Chris Henry makes plays nobody else can make because of his size, Michael Irvin was very good, TO is very good and almost won a SB last year and he's THE WORST teammate immaginable.

Johnathan Joseph makes nine Bengals in the last year, if you're keeping score at home, which you most assuredly are. After the first six, seven, eight, I started to glaze over. The problem isn't so much that another Bengal was caught doing something stupid and illegal. Allegedly. It's that the knee-jerk moralizing has started up again. Nobody is crazy about players messing up, time after time. Nobody thinks nothing of it. People outside of our town are laughing at us, again. That's not unusual. That's only if they care, though. Most don't. But can we please stop with the indignation? My goodness, it's a misdemeanor dope possession charge, not stealing the Lindbergh baby. Another favor: Can we not knee-jerk blame Marvin Lewis for this latest grown-man Bengal charged with a crime? If the last 12 months have taught us anything - beyond a deeper appreciation for the phrases "police said'' and "declined to comment'' - it's that people who believe people who play games for a living are somehow smarter, more humble and more respectful than the rest of us need to put their toys away and smell the reality. An ability to play football professionally does not confer upon a man an ability to make good choices. It does not make him an exceptional human being. It doesn't make him a "role model.'' It only makes him a good football player. Whoop-de-do. You say it's a misdemeanor dope possession, that is the law. Whether you have a little or a lot, it's still a dope possession. A little or a lot is still wrong. I'm probably in a minority here, but I say throw the book at any and all drug offenders. Fill the prisons, build more if needed. But take a hard stand on drugs. Athletes are no different than everyday folks, except they have more $. Fines don't work. Take away their rights, and make them earn them back or loose them forever.
