? Two of the state's more recognizable and tradition rich athletic brands collide on the hardwood in a battle of northern and eastern Kentucky powers. CovCath's balanced line-up features four players - Miller, Hussey, McGillis, & Harney - averaging between 12-15 points per game, led by Caden Miller, who falls just shy of averaging a double-double. Ashland runs through Zander Carter's (24 ppg) all-around game and Tyson Lalonde's perimeter shooting. Quick turnaround for the Colonels, who caged the rival Bluebirds on Friday night and must make the 2+ hour trip to Ashland on Saturday morning for a noon tip. The well rested Tomcats are sharpening their claws.

Series History | CovCath leads 5-3, dating back to 2001. This will be the fifth meeting in the last three years, the most recent being a 26 point blowout by the home team in Park Hills almost exactly a year ago. The Colonels have lost their last two trips to Anderson Gym, each by double digits.

If Ashland plays a complete game on defense and has a great shooting performance they can keep it respectable but unfortunately I don't see them winning. The short turnaround and the bus ride may initially impact the Colonels but with the blowout last night they should have plenty left in the tank to take care of the Tomcats. But...bigger upsets have happened which is why you play the game.

Ashland needs pre-injury, holiday tournament Lalonde to show up today. He hasn't been quite the same since getting back on the court. I don't know if he's not 100% or if it's a confidence thing. Maybe a little of both.
