You're right Manning had nothing to do with them getting to the Super Bowl last night. It was all the poor play of Brady. 80yads, 2 T.O.'s against a defense that is built to kill people in those situations is too much for even the best to overcome with that little time. Brady did make it interesting at least.

Wow you all better hope the Colts win in the super bowl, because if they lose to the very average bears then the choke calls will be back out.

He proved tonight that he is one of the best ever! The Colts defense has been bad in the past and their kickoff team almost cost them tonight. To come out banged up down that much against arguably the best franchise ever solidifies Manning is the real deal in my book! If he wins it all then that is icing on the cake.

One of the best games ever! You couldn't ask for much more! Heck 3 different linemen scored TD's!!!!

 

 

If they lose the Super Bowl he's back to square 1 (I don't think they'll lose). Manning played very good.

Brady threw a TD pass to go up 7 that was dropped. He then threw another that should have been PI in the endzone. They would have been up, then tied, but instead were up 3 then down 4.

All I saw was a SEC QB vs. Big 10 QB. :thumb:

But Peyton was as nervous as can be on the sideline during the Pats last drive. He knew that it might be too little too late for him and his team.

Maybe we were watching a different game. Brady did have a 21-3 lead at one time. The Colts Defense is built to not give up big plays and keep everything in front of them. Makes no since to say he lost the game for the Pats. When your down 4 with 20 seconds left, you have to try to force the ball into tight spots. Seems as if you just dont like Brady to much, why is that?!?!?! Because he wins?

Its easy to set at home having never been anywhere close to being in Manning's shoes and criticize Manning for not winning the big game. Guys, its football. Manning is only on the field for probably 1/2 the game. And there are 10 other guys on the field with him at once. Also he is completely reliant on:

 

A. His O'line giving him time

B. His running backs blocking and getting yards running the football.

C. His WR's getting open and catching the football.

D. The defense giving him a chance.

E. The Special Teams doing their part.

 

Im basically saying there is a lot more to winning a football game than just mistakes and good plays made by a QB.

A-E really didn't happen for Peyton. He was getting killed, his recievers missed some balls, the DB's for NE made play after play, and NE played much better in Special Teams.

 

Manning played a heck of a game and made a LOT of us eat our words (me too), but I loved it and Brady didn't choke at all IMO.

The term choke is overused a lot. Missing a FG for a kicker is choking. Or making a huge mistake when the game is basically yours maybe is choking. But down 4 with under a minute left is a tough situation anyways.

I was begining to think Rex Grossman and Peyton Manning were going to play Super Bowl XLI by their selves. Great relief.

 

Peyton can do this. Peyton can't do that. I am a Peyton Manning/University of Tennessee fan, but to think Manning can win or loose by himself, in the most team oriented sport ever invented, is just silly.

 

How about Harrison? He is on the other side of the completion record. Or, how about Jeff Saturday? The best center in the NFL, maybe the best center ever in the NFL. How about Joseph Addia (sp)? He has gained a few yards rushing/receiving. How about Venitari? One of the best kickers to ever play the game.

Especially when you did EVERYTHING possible to make it a tied game. He threw a TD pass that was dropped to go up 7. Then he threw it in the endzone where there was blatant obvious PI that wasn't called. They had to settle for a FG because of poor officiating. Imagine the pressure Manning would have had on that final drive down 7. That would have been a different game.

The defense gave up big plays through play-action in the 4th qt. IMO.

The Bears beat the Seahawks who were in the Super Bowl last year and drilled the most exciting team in football. I don't think they are getting the credit they deserve. I'm not sold on Grossman yet but they can run the ball, they have outstanding speed on defense and they have the best return man in the game!

 

Dwight Freeney is going to have a field day with Grossman!!!!!!! He hangs onto the ball way to long!!!!!! Freeney has 3 sacks in the SB and several hurries.

If guys are dropping balls and there was a no PI call then how did Brady punch the ticket? Are you seriously trying to say that Peyton wasn't the biggest reason they won last night?

That crew also called less PI's then anybody in the league this year. I thought it was a bad no call but coaches have to know that and coach it up all week.

I think you are mistaking my posts for something someone else said. I thought Brady played VERY clutch, but was put in a very tough situation at the end. To drive 80 yards in a minute even with 2 TOs requires a little(lot) luck. I also thought Peyton stepped up in clutch situations to win the game. He also had several good passes dropped.
