I dont know if us Whitley County taxpayers can afford any more money than what we are paying already for coaches. I guess cuts can be made somewhere else though besides the sports teams.

Coach P. is smart enough to stay away from the W.C. mess. But then again, money talks and...well you know the rest.

Good Win for the Cats. Maybe they can use the second half effort to springboard them for the rest of their season.

Whitley needs to keep what they got. Coach Deaton is an outstanding coach and given the opportunity will make life hard on Corbin and South. For now they will have to strive to beat Williamsburg.

Deaton will get plenty of callers this spring, there are several schools in the region that would love to have him,that are in better districts than Whitley is in. I know of one that has already approached him about a job next year in the 13th.

I have not watched Whitley this year, but from what I have heard and remeber about his teams at Corbin, he is a top notch coach. The situation at Whitley could not improve as much as many would want this year unless he was able to bring in 4 or 5 real players, if he stays things will improve alot in the next few years. If he moved about 30 miles north and coached next year at the above mentioned school which has many players in that system, watch out. Would make sense, along with Clay they would rule that district, and when you can get to the region anything can happen.

But can anyone match his pay that he currently receives at Whitley? I'm not sure what the expectations are at Whitley, but they will be competitve in the district in a couple of years if he can take it that long.

What would make you think that there are districts in the 13th better than the 50th? Whitley would gladly drop Corbin and South in those districts. South is clearly the best team in the region and Corbin is as good if not better than any #2 team in the 13th.

Does anyone remember the Basketball team Whitley had in the early 70's when Bill Williams, Richard Love, Melvin Croley and some others played? I remember this being a very competive team with a coach that was required to actually take his players home after practice and games. I'm sure if he figured up his time he paid the school to coach. I guess I'm asking what ever happened to coaching for the love of the sport and kids.....instead of the all mighty buck?:confused:
