Saint Xavier (4-3) will host Meade County (5-2) after losing to Manual 37-36. Meade County is coming off an open week. 

Meade County QB Scott Cade is 7th in 6A at 180 yards a game so he may have some success against a St. X pass defense ranked 28th in 6A giving up 200 yards a game and worse than that with giving up over 300 yards last two games.

St. X ran for over 378 yards against Manual who has one of the better rush defenses in 6A. Meade County is 27th in 6A against the rush yielding 162 yards a game so St. X should be able to run the ball with success.

Meade County is new to the district and looks to be an upgrade over Butler who they replaced.

Calpreps ratings show St. X better by 26 points.

Does St. X get back on the winning track or does Meade County create a Friday the 13th nightmare for St. X?

Meade County is very balanced on offense. QB Cade Scott is a threat thru the air(1080 passing yards), and is also the teams leading rusher. RB Cruz Redmon is also a threat in the backfield. WRs Branson Stull and backup QB Bennett Hobbs are the leading receivers for Meade County. QB Cade Scott was injured in the PRP game and is questionable for the ST X game due to a shoulder injury. This would be a huge loss if he can’t go in this game. He is a great athlete that can make plays with his feet as well as his arm.

I kind of feel sorry for MC.  After getting pushed around by T and dropping a close one in an amazing finish to Manual, X coaching will have those boys primed and will let the dogs loose to vent their frustration.  X hangs 63 on them and MC gets a garbage time TD.

I don’t know much about this game but I’m looking forward to next year’s game when I finally get to watch a game at the historic MC venue. With a new turf surface things may have changed but I’m sure the Death Valley atmosphere should be everything I’ve heard about for years.

I've never been there so looking forward to going next year.

The stadium is down in a bowl. There is a cemetery that overlooks the field on the visitors side. You will see Meade County locals parking there to watch the games. They have done a lot of upgrades in the last few years including a turf field 2 years ago as well as a new concession building and new track.

It’s a good atmosphere.  I really like the upgrades they have done over the course of the last few years, including the retaining wall & landscaping.

Game notes from Coach Wallace:

Friday will mark the final regular season home game for the Tigers. Senior Night activities will begin at 6:00 PM. St. X is 3-1 against Meade County. The two schools have not met since 2007. All prior contests have been played in the KHSAA playoffs, making this the first-ever regular-season meeting between the two schools. The only Green Wave win came in 2001, when they beat the Tigers, 35-20. This season, Meade County’s two losses have come by one point each (Henderson Co and PRP).
