Boone at Highlands

Featured Replies

Fan support for HHS was weak and worse (non-existent) for Boone. Outside of parents, there were very few others at the game. Anyone care to muse as to why?? The game was very entertaining.

DMZ- I would say that so many other activities going on the same night. We had a 7th grade game out in Burlington at 6pm and several parents attended. The 8th grade game was after ours so you take those kids and a few of those parents and I would say you lose 10-15 fans. Not sure what girls activities were going on at the jr. high or freshman levels.

I do think the fan support overall though is pretty weak. Listening on the radio to the CovCath / HHs Game it was clear that CCH fans were louder and had a greater presence. Although, I tend to think that the fans at the Football games (students) are pretty weak as well. JMO

The CCH fans were seated right below the radio guys (who were also next to our pep band). The rowdies were also directly behind the HHS bench ( not a bright move there by HHS!). I thought the 7+8th graders were filling out the JV team!!! (LOL)

It was great to see former HHS football Head Coach and asst. @ Boone, Mike Murphy in attendance (you can't use "crowd"). He looked like he was ready and able to take over some of the vacancies that are now around!! Always a class act!

What's the word in Simpson's injury?

Sandman, just got to love your unfailing "love" for all things Highlands:fight:.

Birds will be just fine. Have had to overcome some struggles and adversity, but they'll be just fine. Do I expect them to win state? No. But they are playing hard, competitive bball, and their losses sure haven't been due to a lack of effort. I'm sure that doesn't mean anything to you, and you'll keep up your barrage of criticism for Highlands. But hey, what ever floats your boat I guess.

And again, what program did you graduate from and currently support? That remains a mystery to me. Care to share?

All I did was put up some facts, isn't that how you make a point? But, if you say they'll be fine, hey, that's all I need. Never mind record, or losses to Dixie, CCH, and Boone, at two levels back-to-back-to-back. :sssh:

The Birds will get well against Ryle though.

As for the rest, why would you assume I "love" Highlands or any program above reproach?

Amen LN.....I have not heard one positive out of Sandman's mouth on this board ever so I believe he probably doesnt support any team. .

If you're hearing things out of people's mouths on this board, that's a problem.

Correction, not too many positives out of your keystrokes. there you go. :p

It's hard to be overly positive about a team that has lost three straight JV and varsity games to regional foes.

I'm curious, when was the last time HHS lost three straight JV and varsity doubleheaders to Ninth Region teams??? Has it ever happened prior to this season?

Probably a couple of seasons ago. They struggled Willies 1st season. Not sure about JV though.

I didn't realize they struggled that badly. Riherds site has them losing as many as five in a row to Ninth Region teams, so maybe it was only two years ago.

With the Ryle sweep tonight, if it didn't happen in 04-05, I'd guess you would have to go back 35 years or more to find the last time the Birds lost four straight JV/varsity doubleheaders to Ninth Region teams.
