Breathitt, JBS, and Hazard are the top three.

JBS is loaded. They could dominate the 14th for the next 3 years. Were did all these kids come from.

Im taking Breathitt because JBS rely's to much on the three pointer and all it takes is one bad shooting night and your going home. Thats why every team needs a solid big man that can score the high percentage shot down low.

I like Breathitt, but I just think that it is JBS's year. They are playing really good of late. I think after JBS and Breathitt play in Feb. we will know how they will match up for the region.

Both Stepps,Cox,and Short have played together since they were 5 years old. Collins came as a 5th grader and Conley and Hall came as freshman from county schools. Collins is only one who lives out of county.

Right now I think JBS, Breathitt, and Hazard are the top three. The next group is anyones game: PCC, Lee, Powell, Buckhorn, and Knott.

will someone explain to me how Breathitt can go 4-23 last year and be in a position to win the region the next? I have not seem them play but I can not figure that out

In my opinion, they were a better team then their record indicated last year. They were in a lot of close games and lost by 3-4 points or else their record would have been better. In fact they beat Leslie down there and of course Leslie went on to do fairly well.

I think the main difference this year is the freshmen players, particularly Noble and Fugate. Mixing them in with a couple of the older guys and the big man Smith being in better condition and playing a lot tougher has helped the Bobcats. With all of that said, they have only played about 4 teams this year with a winning record, that will certainly help your W/L record. But it also builds confidence with youngsters. They have not been tested by anyone but Hazard and they split, each winning by 1. Hazard is not a power house by any means but they are one of the top 3 in the 14th. I'm anxious to see the JB/ Breathitt game, that will be telling for both teams, I think.

Coaching has a lot to do with it. Breathitt didn't condition last year or even under Coach Hall. The playing style of Coach Banks is a good fit for the program. He believes in playing defense first. Thet trickles down the bench. He has a boy in Ryan Allen that could start on alot of the teams in the region coming off the bench. He is a spark to the team. Ryan Allen plays great defense, and i believe he held Hicks to 0 points in the 3rd quarter one night. Nick Noble and Channing Fugate both can play big on defense. The hot shot of Justin Hollan, and the low post presents of Travis Smith plays big for the cats, not to mention these boys have played together throughout their lives. The schedule they have played is weak but they have beaten some pretty good teams too. I honestly believe if Breathitt plans on taking region they need to stick together as a team, keep listening to Coach Banks, and Playing both ends of the court. I'm taking Breathitt to win region by 1 point in the championship game. Mainly because of a boy no one is talking about, senior Brandon Hayes.

Thanks for the info. I knew they were young last year and possible had a tougher schedule but 4 and 23? Wow. And now having beaten Hazard and several other decent teams. It seems like such a large turnaround. There had to be some sort of changes rather than players just getting older and more mature.

They are good but I dont know about them dominating the 14th for the next few years, Breathitt has some young talnet and they are good. Give them a year or two to grow.

The biggest change was the Coach. The boys respond better to Coach Banks. He demands respect and the team has responded. They will be a force for the next few years I would say. They only have 2 seniors. Only one of them gets alot of playing time.

LAST SEASON, BREATHITT STARTED 4 SOPHOMORES WITH LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE. AFTER NEARLY 30 GAMES AND A YEAR OF MATURITY IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THEY WOULD BE MUCH IMPORVED. FACTOR IN A WEAK SCHEDULE AND YOU GET THE KIND OF SUCCESS THEY ARE HAVING NOW. IT SHOULD BE MENTIONED THAT BEFORE THE 4 WIN SEASON, COACH HALL HAD A 2 YEAR RUN OF 50-10.

COACH HALL IS A VERY GOOD BASKETBALL COACH AND IT IS UNFAIR TO GIVE SOLE CREDIT OF THIS TEAMS SUCCESS TO COACH BANKS AND HIS STAFF. THERE SUCCESS THIS SEASON CAN BE ATTRIBUTED IN A LARGE PART TO COACH HALL. WHILE COACH HALL WAS BEING TOLD THINGS BY SUPERINTENDENT ARCH TURNER AND BOARD CHAIR KELLY NOBLE LAST SEASON LIKE "NOT TO WORRY ABOUT LOSSES" AND "JUST GET THE YOUNG KIDS READY", THEY WERE PLOTTING TO YANK THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER HIS FEET. COACH HALL WAS A VICTOM OF BACKWOODS POLITICS AND FAILURE TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS ABILITY AND SUCCESSES WHILE AT BREATHITT IS JUST AN OUTRAGE.

Coach banks is a better coach all around
