Pikeville's Pursuit Of A 3-Peat Begins At The Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic

Records: Season opener for both

Series History: First ever meeting

Next man up: How do you replace Blake Birchfield's impact and production? It's a lot to ask of one player to shoulder that load, which may result in more of a running back by committee approach this season for Pikeville. But if there's an heir apparent, Blake Caudill's shoulders are the best place to start. The Panthers have huge shoes to fill on the offensive line as well, after being the most devastating unit in 1A the last two years. Devastation is also a good way to describe the affect Brycen Dugger and Chandler Godby had on Pulaski's opponents last year. They were the state's most prolific quarterback --> receiver combo, resulting in Godby tying the single season state record for receiving touchdowns. Their production won't easily be replaced, but John Hines' offense has a lengthy track record for manufacturing arms that can sling it and hands that can catch it. Harris Denmyer has the inside track on the latter.

PC is young and has a lot of gaps to fill at spots with high positional importance. However, I do think they will be a solid team come time for district play. With that being said, I think it is too early in the season to shake a few growing pains— thus Pikeville wins by a couple of touchdowns.

Any live video of this one?

We're on the same page here. I'll like the Maroons a lot more later in the year and my faith in Pikeville borders on unshakeable at times.

Looks like radio only and they also put out a warning about all the fake broadcasts, everyone needs to be on the lookout for those for all the games.

Mountain Top Media will be streaming this one, but I'm not sure if you can watch on their site or if you need their app.

I wasn't sure.  I looked at it but I don't see a link to the game.

I am thinking not, Mountain Top Sports just posted this:

Frosty Davis, Jim Williamson, and Bob Shurtleff are ready for Football Friday?
Listen to the crew on 93.1 WDHR or our Free Mountain Top Media App for all Pikeville Football play by play coverage as they take on Pulaski County!

Also, there is another game listed on their Facebook page that has video to Shelby Valley/Letcher Central game and no mention of Pikeville and Pulaski.

Pikeville ball on their own 21 to start the game.
